I think these are a copy of a 1774 pattern made by the Lomonosov Imperial Porcelain Company in Russia. Apparently there is also a New Russian Imperial Lomonosov Porcelain in Ukraine that does a reproduction of this pattern. However, they are dramatically more expensive that what is found on Amazon. I think these dishes are a knock off of that. The mark on the bottom of the dishes is similar, but NOT the same as what is on the real ones. For example, it says SP. PETERSBURG, rather than ST. PETERSBURG. The makers mark is also similar, but not the same. They say Hand Decorated ~ but to me, they look very much like the pattern was stamped onto the plates. Lorren Home Trends turns out to actually be a company called Lorenzo Import, LLC. Based in Waterbury, CT. No matter how much I researched could I find where any of their items are made. Presumably, in some other country and imported here. It does not say where they are made on the bottom of the dishes or on the box that they come in. I guess the "SP. Petersburg" is supposed to trick you into thinking they were made in Russia.

I don't think so. There is metal in the pattern.

Q: how large are the cups how much liquid do they hold

They are on the small side. I don't have them in front of me, but they are definitely not as big as the standard size coffee mug. A tea or after dinner coffee...6-8oz. Not going to replace a bubba keg with one. Equivalent to those styrofoam coffee cups. Beautiful set as a whole.
