Yibuy 9# Silver Jazz Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece Set for Beginners Saxophonists 107x36mm(LxH)

I purchased the #9 tenor mouthpiece. It just came today and I am beyond surprised. This thing is just so good it challenges everything you think you know about mouthpieces. The black marks under the ligature were present but came off easily with metal polish. The finish is actually chrome, not silver plate. The ligature is comparable to a Rovner. The build quality and machining appear excellent. I have been using a Runyun SR and an original Guardala MB II hand made for a long time. The SR is a classic very low-baffle, large-chamber mouthpiece with a deep, velvety sound and very modest dynamics. The MB is high-baffle, small/medium-chamber and sounds like what you expect-- free-blowing, focused, bright, and crazy powerful. This Yibuy is in the middle leaning a little closer to the MB II. It has a medium baffle about right in the middle between my other mouthpieces and a small chamber- as small or smaller than the MB II. Dynamics are closer to the MB II than the SR, although still noticeably less powerful then the MB II. Although I got a #9, the tip is definitely more like a 6. However, the mouthpiece sound and response is astonishingly good. The lower octave plays free but still has depth. The middle octaves are clear, rich, and reasonably powerful. The high octaves are effortless and in-tune. Four octaves on this mouthpiece are no problem at all. I don't know how durable the piece will be. If its made with quality metal it should last. The bite does seem to be more delicate that others I have had, so a bite protector might be a good idea. Regardless, you really cant go wrong with this. The feel is in the middle of the spectrum- it blows open with a small amount of resistance and it plays moderately loud. It should work for most people. The overall sound is as good as you will ever find at any price. I have two very nice mouthpieces, with one being considered one of the best ever made. Neither outclasses the Yibuy. That's impressive at any price range. At $30... its friggin' stupid. I can honestly say unless you are a brand snob, there is no reason to buy something better than this.

I got this Yibuy (#9 silver tenor) mouthpiece because I liked the other style (different design) Yibuy #9 that I got with the rose finish. I thought this one would be super powerful and edgy, judging by the small size of the chamber. However, I was surprised to find that the sound was bright and clear, not harsh, but also not quite as powerful as the other Yibuy piece that I got. I used both pieces at a gig last night, microphone set flat with rolloff at 80hz., a little verb and delay. The rose model had a bit more power, and also a meatier sound, but both pieces held their own. I was able to put more air into the rose model without it closing up on me. (I like either a 7* or 8 in most mouthpieces, but these #9's play more like a 7, or possibly even a 6*). Still, it's hard to complain about either mouthpiece, both being pro playable, at $30 each, and keeping me pretty happy all night! Both models were easy to play in tune in all registers, and both pieces were easy to reach altissimo notes with. This silver one came through in a box, with plastic around it, and the Rovner style lig wrapped around that. I liked the design of the lig, but it was some kind of smelly synthetic leather, which I suspect will not last, and also it left a terrible black stain on the silver finish of the mouthpiece, even through the plastic wrapper! It sounded nice, though. I came close to giving this 5 Stars, and for price vs performance, maybe I should have! I would like to add, that I was able to use silver polish cloths to remove the stain, and it came right off, revealing a beautiful silver plated piece.

wasn't better than my Rico M7, although almost as good, but it outperformed my Van Doren V16 T9. Perhaps trying different reeds may have made a difference from the fibracell 2.5 and 3 tenor sax reeds.

This piece plays as well or better than many mouthpieces I have purchased at 10 times the cost (10MFan, Vandoren, Jody Jazz, etc). It plays on the bright side as is expected for this baffle and chamber shape. It has good intonation over all ranges, is easy to control and it feels comfortable to the embouchure. I got a #9 which feels more like a #7. It's not often that you can get this level of satisfaction with a product so substantially less expensive than the competition. Frankly, the cost to manufacture a metal or HR mouthpiece is minimal compared to typical sales prices. It is implied that you are paying 10 times more than the manufacturing cost to cover the development and design expertise. This unit is an exception to that notion.

Used a beechler arb custom for a while and jumbo Java a45. Man oh Man, this mouthpiece has worked wonders for me. Has an exceptional response with the right reed set up. Very balanced and makes my tone resonate. Absolutely love this mouthpiece and it’s my main mouthpiece I use today in gigs. Haven’t yet tried it in recordings but soon to try. Size 9 feels very comfortable to me and feels like my jumbo Java a45 in a way with a little less brightness. My set up is Yamaha custom 82z, E1 Yamaha custom neck, Yibuy alto mouthpiece #9, Vandoren Traditional reeds size 3, with Rovner versa ligature. Set up is fire !

This is a fantastic mouthpiece at any price. For $30 it's a steal. On my Selmer Mark VI it opens the horn up and gives it a nice edge. Play with different ligatures and you can get some great sounds with this mouthpiece. On my Cannonball it is a bit bright but again swap ligatures and it is unbelievable how many different sounds you can achieve. It plays very well in tune. My advice would be to buy a half dozen of these and have them worked on by your favorite tech. You will not only come out cheaper but will have some great pieces. Only complaint; #9 is probably a #6.

For the price range, It's sturdy and Nice, But has got a cranky sound, Needs a lot of Balancing while on stage and It's not at all possible with the Adrenaline rush😜....Overall, The product is good, If ignored for the small flaws

Yibuy White Metal #9 Mouthpieces ReviewOkay, with over 45 years experience I, like Sirvalorsax (checkout his review), buy and test these budget metal mouthpieces to recommend to students where appropriate and I have, among others, two Yibuy mouthpieces including this white metal jazz #9 and the gold #7. All in all I am really impressed with the manufacture quality and the speed of delivery. Turning to the white metal #9; the table is very flat and well machined as is the chamber and bore. The Yibuy is a perfect fit on my Yamaha YTS-62 tenor. The baffle is what I call a step baffle which is modestly high with an undercut tip. This makes the mouthpiece very free blowing. The tone is bright and edgy with oodles of power and projection.The high notes are very bright and the lows sing really nicely. Sub-tones are acceptable and, altissimo notes come out really easily. Overall I find the tone excellent and very controllable. I like a bright mouthpiece for Rhythm and Blues and when playing with LOUD guitars! The Rovner style ligature and cap are a nice addition!The side rails are spot on. I used a Vandoren 2.5 reed to test the mouthpiece and it was a great fit (I usually use LaVoz and Rico Orange Box reeds). The mouthpiece length is about average being longer than my Otto Link Super Tonemaster 8* and shorter than my Lawton Bronze 9BB so, tuning is spot on. The tip opening is a bit less than most 9s but you know what, there is no standard and it’s about the same as my Berg Larsen Bullet 8.Would I recommend these mouthpieces? Yes, in a heartbeat and this one has wow factor. Would I use them for gigs? Yes. Just remember that it will take inexperienced players a little embouchure adjustment to get things working properly and they’ll get you on the path to playing wider tip mouthpieces for more power and a much richer mould-able sound that will get over the loud on stage noise and, for you to be able to hear yourself from low to high notes. Be prepared to try different reeds.Footnote: These mouthpieces seem very similar in design to my Lawton’s and Berg Larsen’s although this model has an unusual shaft design, which doesn’t affect its playability at all and, in copying those and with modern CAD engineering the Chinese are turning out very consistent good quality.

La boquilla tiene muy buenos agudos y los armónicos salen muy fácil. En el registro grave tiene un poco menos de "punch", porque aunque se supone que es del "9", en realidad es más parecida a una "7".La única pega que veo es que la boquilla es muy corta y se me queda muy fuera del corcho, pero vamos, cuestión de ajustar...

I recieved mine no staining from the ligature all seals well plays very good sound like a mb2 mine seems to like a riggotti 2.5 reed or fibercell reed mh or jazz select mh i have played a few mouthpieces alot dearer than this i was amazed i would say for the money buy it a box of reeds cost more but get size 9 as thats like a 7

This is surprisingly good and on a par with mouthpieces costing 5 times the price or more. It is very well machined/finished. I ordered the size 9 but I would estimate that this is really closer to a 7 on the Otto Link scale. The silver electroplating is good but when it arrives you will most likely see some tarnish which comes off easily with a silver cloth/polish. The sound is a good balance with enough brightness to give it a richness without sacrificing the lower end. I love this and actually bought another one in case they stop making them.
