Excellent trigger pedal, works with Yamaha DTX6K3-X electronic drum set

I have tried both traditional beater trigger pedals as well as one of Yamaha's beaterless trigger pedals. The beater triggers worked with the K90 pad however they did not replicate the bass drum sounds as accurately when compared to using the electronic trigger pedals. Maybe it is in the conversion of the mechanical trigger to an electronic sound, not sure. The Yamaha trigger pedal did not provide as much tactile feedback and rebound as it uses a spring mechanism. The Roland trigger pedal was very close to the feel of a beater trigger pedal and more accurately reproduced the bass drum sound. In my opinion, paying the significantly higher cost for the Roland was well it. I am extremely satisfied with the Roland trigger pedal.I am not sure why it is so difficult to find out what trigger pedals are compatible with the various electronic drum sets that are available. It would be nice if the manufacturers provide more in-depth info on compatibility with electronic drum sets other than their own. This trigger pedal is compatible with the Yamaha DTX6K3-X electronic drum set. I ended up using the audio cable from a Yamaha trigger pedal as I experienced a bit of cymbal sound on top of the bass drum sound when using the cable that came with the Roland trigger pedal. No clue as to why the different cable influenced the sound.

Surprisingly heavy-duty, solid pedal. About as loud as two people having a conversation

I was surprised when I unboxed the pedal. The pedal is about twice as heavy as I expected. Like many, I initially felt it was overpriced, but I now understand why. The majority of the pedal is made out of heavy, solid metal. This thing feels twice as durable as my real kick pedals, which have lasted +15 years without issue. The main reason I got this pedal, like most people, is for the quiet playing. It is indeed quiet. I thankfully have had no issue with squeaking as I saw one reviewer complained. I would feel comfortable using this pedal in an upper story apartment complex without worrying about neighbors' complaints (I've been there and experienced that). I unscientifically measured the sound level with a dB meter on my phone as I played just the pedal alone. I held my phone's microphone by my head to simulate what the drummer hears. The pedal registered between 53-68 dBA, which would make it quieter than a shower or dishwasher, and about as loud as two people having a conversation in a living room - perfectly reasonable for an apartment. When I received the pedal, I immediately adjusted the spring and beater to their maximum "heavy" setting, and I'm quite pleased with the feel (those max adjustments feel the closest to a real pedal to me). It has a similar feel to real pedals, the only subjective difference to me being the actual impact. The impact feels about 25% more responsive than a real beater. I think that makes sense, since a beater hitting a real drum head experiences a bit of 'give' as the drum head bows inward toward the drum's interior against the force of the beater. Obviously this doesn't happen with this pedal. But the other aspects of the action feel the same as a real pedal.I'm very pleased, and when budget allows, I'll be getting a second pedal to daisy-chain and complete my setup with double-pedal functionality.

Solid construction but missing “included” cable

This pedal has a very solid metal construction, and was easy to set up to my SPD-SX Pro. However the “included” V-Drums cable was not included in the box, so my first step was to reach out to Roland support.

Better than the Roland's RDH-100 kick pedal and KD-10 kick pad

I love my Roland TD-27KV2 V Drums. However, the KD-10 kick that came with it isn't stable and creeps around even with the spurs extended on the RDH-100 kick pedal. I initially bought a KT-10 to use for my left pedal, and loved it so much that I decided to buy another one to replace the RDH-100 and KD-10. The action and feel are very realistic, and they're much quieter than a beater hitting a pad. The build quality is exceptional, and the smaller footprint allows me to set them up more ergonomically. The instructions indicate that it's possible to connect the two pedals for a double-pedal setup, but they also state that the output level is reduced in that configuration. So I just connect the right trigger to the kick input, and the left trigger to the AUX1. Works perfectly!

The quietest bass drum pedal

I own a Roland SPD-SX Pro that I use for practicing in my apartment. I am able to play even late at night with headphones or with my amplifier set to low volume. The KT-9 is excellent for drummers who live in apartments with neighbors who live above, below, and next door. The only adjustment you have to live with is that you lose the “slap back” feeling from your foot triggering the bass drum. If you have to have that “slap back” feel of hitting the bass drum, then I would recommend that you buy the Roland KT-10, which would give you that. The sacrifice is that the KT-10 will be noisy if you’re playing late at night and the neighbors might hear you and complain.

No more noise complaints

Got a noise complaint from my downstairs neighbors as soon as I got an electric drum set. Figured out the noise being transmitted was almost entirely from the beater of my normal bass drum pedal hitting the electric trigger pad.I was skeptical that a beaterless pedal would that much quieter and was dead certain it couldn’t feel anything like a real pedal. Roland proved me wrong. Feels great, is super quiet, and haven’t gotten a single noise complaint from my neighbors after buying a KT-9.Update: just bought a second KT-9 kick trigger pedal and can now play double bass for the first time.

Don’t rely on “Tracker” to manage your delivery via Fedx

Husband is a drummer - the item is awesome - was exactly what he was hoping for. 5 stars is for item… Zero for Fedx delivery. Problem with shipment arriving from China via Fedx. This item was sitting on a shelf with a “hold for customs” sticker on it for 3 days. I had to track it down via 3 different Fedx location 2 phone calls and 3 on line inquiries. At Fedx. There was no real hold and Fedx clerk did inform me that it would have been on the shelf for unlimited amount of time hadn’t I myself tracked it down. That was disappointing..
