Owlet Cam Smart Video Baby Monitor with Video Camera and Audio

This baby camera has been my ride or die!! Picture is great in color or night mode, it’s so easy to use and set notifications for sound and movement. I was needing something that was great quality at a reasonable price and this is it!

So I chose the option to minimize the screen so I could see my daughter while also listening to a tik tok live while I was in the shower. I was constantly checking the picture and she was sound asleep. When I got out of the shower I thought I heard my daughter cry but when I looked at the screen my daughter was sound asleep. When I opened the bathroom door, I could hear my daughter screaming crying and looked at the app again and it showed that she was still sound asleep in the same position she was when I minimized the picture! Even when I went in to get her and pick her up, I looked at my phone again and it was still showing me the picture that she was sound asleep!! It’s like the frame was frozen on the picture I saw when I minimized it and it never updated at all! This is scary and makes me not trust the video feed I’m seeing when minimizing the picture. I will say I did test it out when in the app normally and it works, but lags by about 2 seconds which I feel is normal for any video feed. I updated the app and now when I try to minimize the picture so I can navigate on my phone and still see her, it doesn’t show me any picture and the app is loading, loading, loading, but no picture. It says my internet connection is strong too!

Please do your research before buying!! I purchased this for my baby girl as we were transitioning her to her own crib/room. I saw it was owlet brand and the price and assumed it would be a good quality monitor. After not even a month I’ve had so many issues and they just keep getting worse. The camera will randomly disconnect all the time. I will wake up in the middle of the night and it just says “could not connect” no video or sound coming out. So I have no idea if my baby had been crying. You have to exit out of the app and reopen it sometimes for over 20 minutes before you can get it to reconnect. When it is connected sometimes there is no picture… just a grey screen with a loading symbol. The audio sometimes cuts out. I am sleeping and I cannot hear a sound machine and realize there has not been no sound coming out at all. Also it lacks very badly. At first sometimes it was only 5 seconds. I would hear a cry from her room and then a few seconds later I would hear the same cry on the app. Not too big of a deal but sometimes it’s bad enough to where I lay her down, grab something to drink and some pick up my phone to check on her and it shows an empty crib. It had no updated me setting her into it. Also my final issue is that it freezes without you knowing. Onetime I was actively watching her while she was napping and she seemed asleep but then her eufy so I base was lighting up like she was moving. She was awake and crying and I had no idea because the image showed a sleeping baby. I will be returning and purchasing a different one. I can’t sleep peacefully knowing something could be wrong with my baby and I would have no idea because this monitor only wants to work sometimes.

I love that the monitor is your phone, so easy to use, and one less thing to carry around and remember to charge! The app is very useful, and I love that you can turn the sound on in the background, so that you can use your phone for other things while still listening for baby. You can even make and receive phone calls, and hear baby, which is very reassuring. Installation was easy, and came with all that was needed. The night vision in the camera is perfect, and I love that you can zoom in if needed! Great value for the price!

Our friends recommended this monitor to us and I’m so glad they did. While I loved the look and Wi-Fi capabilities of the Nanit the price + monthly membership kept me on the fence. So when our friends told us their experience with the owlet monitor I knew it was worth a try. Since day one this has been our #1 used baby product and it is absolutely amazing! We just have the free version and it gives us everything we need - as our baby gets older we might upgrade just to have the history but for now everything from the app, to the quality (both day & night) and the price has been the best!

It’s an accurate product to the advertisement. It does send really good video. You can access it on your phone even when you’re not at home as long as the cam is connected through Wi-Fi. You can adjust it, but you have to do it manually. You can’t control it remotely. The sound is not synced, it takes a few seconds between when your child cries and when you might hear it on the cam. It does take time to set it up, but I like the childproofing that comes with it and I do appreciate the peace of mind it brings me if I’m not able to watch him 24/7. I don’t use the speech feature as much because it’s not that clear and my child doesn’t respond to it. But I do like the video and knowing that he’s safe and ok while I move about the house taking care of chores.
