How does this sound with an electric guitar?
Is this supposed to light up when plugged in? Mine is not lighting up.
I street perform and would like to use a battery to plug adapter to run this effect w my Crate Taxi . Is a 9 volt battery too much milliamps for this?
Does this include ac adaptor or do I have to buy it separate?

Compact acoustic guitar multi effects pedal that sounds great for little money.

The media could not be loaded. The Sonicake Sonic Bar Sonic Wood is a compact acoustic multi effects pedal with a preamp, chorus, delay and reverb. There's a single 1/4" input, a 1/4" output and an XLR output. I play a lot of acoustic gigs and could use this and only add a looper and a tuner, though I have one built into most of my guitars.I did my best to make an amateur video so you can hear the pedal and see how it functions. I'd suggest you also watch the official video from Soncake. My guitars have built in preamps, so I wasn't able to really test the preamp. However, with the tone controls at noon and the volume up, it works great as a lead boost. I'm really picky about my chorus sound and this one made me happy. You can make it really warbly, but I like something way more subtle, yet noticeable. In addition, the chorus has a tap tempo feature that I demo in the video. If you're using the effect as something like a rotary speaker sim (it's a chorus, but doesn't sound like a univibe), you can go from slow to fast with the tap of your foot. The delay gives you blend (level), repeat (feedback) and time knobs. I think it sounds great and warm without altering your full range acoustic sound. It also has a tap tempo feature (shown in the video) which I always use to match the delay tempo to the song. The reverb is a one knob affair, but sounds good with a very usable range; from none to way too much that some ambient players might like. It also has a tail effect that I forgot to demo in my video. I would use it to keep the reverb low for normal play, then hit the tail switch to end with a BIG reverb. Pretty cool and not something I've seen in another pedal. As with all the Sonicake pedals I've tried, the chassis is strong metal, the knobs feel very smooth but won't move until you do it deliberately. The footswitches have a great feel and seem like they'll stand up to use. The input, output and xlr jacks are metal, not. cheap plastic. Overall it's really well made. Surprising for the price.Size-wise, it's way smaller than the Tech 21 acoustic rig or the Trace Transit A, but it does lack a tunerI should mention that this unit comes with a 9V, center negative, 500ma power supply. It's small, but the power cord is probably the longest I've seen. That can come in handy as it did during my video. If you only need a short cord, just use a tie to keep the cable neat and together. In summary, it's a hell of a pedal for $69!!! Now I want to try some of the electric multi effects!

Can't beat it for the price

I picked this up to add some depth to my acoustic guitar. I frequently play amplified and thought the addition of some acoustic type effects would add to the sound. I was not disappointed. This multi effects pedal offers reverb, delay, chorus, and a preamp which can be handy with certain passive pickups. It is well built and easy to work with. The case is metal and all the switches are solid and have a positive response when clicked. The controls for each effect are lighted when the effect is active. The control knobs are intuitive and nicely reactive. It also includes a "tap-tempo" and "tail on/off" function. The unit has a standard 1/4" TS input and a choice of either a 1/4" TS output or XLR output which can be very handy if going directly to a mixing board. It uses a standard 9 volt (negative tip) power input (not supplied) which is pretty universal with guitar pedals. As with many effects pedals this unit does add a little bit of noise to the signal, but, nothing out of the ordinary. I can usually eliminate it by using the pad function on my mixer. A noise gate would work well too.I have been very pleased with this and think it is a great value. I should point out that I am not a professional player or sound tech. This works for my intermediate playing ability and budget.

I am pretty impressed all around

I have a guitar student who tends to be resistant to things that seem foreign or complicated. But I knew, as did he, that he needed some reverb and chorus for the limited gigs that he does. I had loaned him my TC HOF reverb and Digitech Chorus pedals and while he liked the sound, for him he thought the setup was too complicated. So I bought this one for him to try. I'm not surprised but he loves it.We were on a gig together last night so I thought it would be a great opportunity to try it out in real situation. The one thing I saw in another review was that the reviewer said it brought noise into the house system. I was concerned about that, but very relieved to say that it was dead quiet. It should be noted that we connected it via the guitar output jack rather than the XLR and went into a separate DI box.I don't have to tell you how everything functions. Reverb is simple. Chorus is a pretty standard 3 knob setting. PREAMP gives some possibilities and can not only be used as a basic EQ, but if you turn the volume down to zero, when you activate the preamp section it acts as a mute. So if your guitar has a decent tone controls you can control tone at the guitar and again, use the preamp as a mute which can come in handy. Otherwise use the preamp to dial in the sound you want and you can always roll off the volume on the guitar, assuming you have a volume control. For those "blow thru" pickups with no volume control this provides that feature. The channel that seems to be the most difficult to figure out is the delay. In my student's case I don't see him ever using the delay, but it's good that it's there. I rarely use delay myself even though I have a stand alone delay pedal.I got lucky to have gotten this during the Black Friday Sale, but I think it's still worth it at the full price. My student was so excited and asked me if he could buy it off me. I don't think he knew I actually bought it for him knowing that he'd like it. Before the gig was over he Zelle'd me the money in between tunes! That should tell you something.

Can't go wrong

Good bang for the buck, light weight, usable effects, takes up little room on a pedal board. Nice pedal, glad I got it. Works well at rehearsal and live acoustic performances.
