DO NOT BUY THESE RELAYS

I installed 2 of these relays into a cooling fan system on my truck. Each is a 20A circuit. All wiring is new as well as the fans. The fans worked fine for about 5min then they started popping fuses. After inspection of the system I found that the relays were the cause of the excessive resistance, .6 ohms to be precise. I put in a new relay and fuse, and the circuit stopped blowing fuses.I opened both relays to find that there is a burned spot at the connection between a fuse terminal and the winding where it connects. This is where I found the excessive resistance.I would not recommend these relays.

First 2 out to 3 relays did not work

Wired up a LED light bar on my Polaris Ranger. Went to test my wiring and did not get output from the relay. Removed the relay to confirm that my wiring was correct and it was. Was a real head scratcher. Took another relay out of the 6 pack to confirm it wasn't a bad relay - still didn't work. Triple checked my wiring. Had a non-fused relay laying around so I plugged that into the socket and bingo- worked as it should. Pulled relay # 3 out of this pack of 6 and finally found one that works. Didn't try the other 3 but 2 of the first 3 I tried did not work. The built in fuse is a good idea to tidy up wiring but a 66% failure rate is not acceptable.

Relay must be mounted as close to battery as possible...

The included 30 amp fuses are UL listed (good) but may not be the correct rating you need. 30 amps is just the maximum for the relay... Which will protect this relay and not your electronic equipment. I removed the 30amp and installed a 7.5 amp that was recommended for my LED lights.Using a fuse that is too big for your circuit could cause a fire. Also, mount this relay as close to the battery as possible. The length of wire between the battery and relay is not protected unless you add another fuse close to the battery.

Compact problem solver

These relays, sockets and fuses are a terrific way to power up and protect a component with the least amount of wiring possible. The big plus for me was having the fuse contained within the assembly so a separate fuse didn't have to be wired into the circuit and a customer may not know where to look for it in the event of a failure. This feature is also the one detraction I have about these parts. I thought the fuse was part of the socket assembly so the relay could be changed independently. When I received the order I saw that the fuse is part of the relay body itself, not the socket, so one needs to keep a similar relay (with fuse attached) in the car as a spare in case it ever goes bad, or risk running with an un-fused circuit if another manufacturers relay is swapped out.For ease of finding the correct fuse I give these relays an A+, but for convenience of being able to find a replacement part if one isn't on hand I have to give them a D since they'd have to be re-ordered from the online store.
