A Solid Performer for 20 Amp Systems

Very well built. Includes a thorough manual. Easy to mount with or without included brackets. It replaced a hard working Renogy PWM controller and has already shown its ability to produce more charging power in cloudy conditions. It immediately picks up its charging pace when a load is placed on the battery bank and gets them back to floating charger very quickly. It uses very little power overnight. Overall, I am pleases with its solid performance. On sale a great value for the money, even at its 20 Amp capacity.

Works perfectly, Easy interface, Large display

Meets all specifications, MPPT tracking and voltage down conversion from PV module voltage to battery voltage conversion works well. Efficient, at least 90% of PV module power goes to the battery (note: cheaper "PWM" chargers burn off excess module voltage, wasting this power, instead of converting it). Pre-programmed Lithium battery charge settings work fine. Screw terminals are easy to use and make secure connections.I mounted this unit to the outside of a Group 24 battery box, which I use with a 100W module and a 100Ah LiTime battery for power in remote locations; the combination works very well. Big, easy to read display. Menus and buttons are intuitive and easy to learn and use. Well made. Easy to mount. Includes temperature sensor probe for battery temperature compensation. Good value, I would recommend it and would buy it again.

Good controler

Purchased for my solar build. It works fine, very good price point. The charge controller is a little big for a 20amp. Nice looking controller.Con: have to purchase Bluetooth connector.

Excellent Solar Controller

This is a great solar controller!I haven't completed my DIY solar setup just yet, but this controller works great for charging my (3) 12v AGM batteries in parralel. I'm using two 32v 250watt solar panels wired in series so the controller is getting maxed out at charging the batteries at 20 amps! I was not expecting my solar panels to max out the controller but it is limiting itself properly and keeping the batteries charged and ready to go! Even on a grey cloudy afternoon, it will trickle charge the batteries around 2 amps.Do not believe the other cheap charge controllers showing 50 or even 100amps of capacity because they do not use the proper internal circuits to actually handle that amount of power.PLEASE NOTE: the power output terminals on the controller are NOT for high load applications. If you plan to use them for an inverter or high amperage load, it must be wired to a contactor or relay to avoid frying the controller. The instructions provided have more information on how to properly use the output. The setup instructions provided are easy to follow and the online support, and manufacturers website are very helpful. They make great products all around.Again, this is a great controller and you won't be dissappointed!

Good for an inexpensive CC

I have a couple larger systems, but had a need for smaller system (i.e. cheap). I'm using a single 200W panel and a single 12v AGM battery. My wire connections are 10 AWG from the panel, 8 AWG to the battery. No issues at all with the terminals. The holes in the case are slightly offset with the terminal lugs, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems. But I wish they didn't use phillips screws on the terminals; you must use a high quality bit that is not worn out, or it can slip.Programming is fairly simple, although it takes a minute to understand the logic behind the button sequences. Once you get their logic, it's easy. Runtime data is displayed by pressing the up/down buttons to view each parameter. There's no backlight, but the display uses large digits and you can pretty much see it in any lighting condition except total darkness.I don't use the load function, but I did test it up to about 15A, and it worked fine. As the manual says, the load is not for inverters or high current loads, and you shouldn't be using loads with a low PF, inductive loads, etc. The load is really for a light. You could also do something like connect a relay, and have a cooling fan turn ON during the day to keep the system cool, and off at night. It works great for what it is - a simple MPPT charge controller. If you READ the instructions, everything you need to know is there. For example it tells you that no equalization occurs when the unit is set to "Gel" (for AGM cells), yet I still see people confused about this. It is not waterproof. No mounting brackets are included, you just use some standard screws. A battery temperature sensor is included.

This WORKS, unless anything cheaper

I wasn't happy about the price, but since this is the cheapest thing I can find that *works* (and doesn't destroy batteries), it's the best option available. Please don't waste your time, money, or batteries on PWM solar charge controllers. They will destroy your batteries. All of them will. They're all worthless. Worse than worthless, because they'll permanently destroy things that cost you money. It took me years of frustration, five destroyed batteries, $600 of wasted money, and seven or eight different PWM solar charge controllers to finally discover that there's a difference between PWM and MPPT. Here's what it is.MPPT has overcharge protection. PWM does not.Overcharge protection is the ENTIRE POINT of a solar charge controller.Don't buy PWM. They're exactly the same as having no charge controller at all. Buy MPPT. Then you can avoid my mistake of losing hundreds of dollars to destroyed batteries. And yes, this is true even with very cheap solar panels and very cheap batteries. The only kind of solar controller that is worth anything is MPPT.
