Great gift for those who enjoy college football. Has a wide variety and level of questions with multiple different categories. Great book!

I received this book two weeks ago and have not gone a single day without cracking it open to try and answer some of the questions. I have always been more of an NFL than a college football fan, but that is why this book is so perfect. If you are a die-hard college football fan, there are difficult questions that will surely stump you (or at least get the brain working). If you are like me, with less knowledge about college football, there are also plenty of questions to keep me entertained for hours. I could not recommend this book more if you are even slightly interested in football. I have used trivia books before and they are either too difficult for the average person to use, too easy and thus not really fun, or it is impossible to find the right answer. This book has it all though: easy, intermediate, and challenging questions, and it could not be more simple to flip back and forth for the right answer. This book is going to be a staple gift of mine for years to come.

This was not as exciting as I had hoped. No pi tures, very little color. It's tons of information but you have to want to sit down and read college facts to enjoy this one.

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of THE BIG BOOK OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL TRIVIA by Dave Halprin, very much enjoyed it, and I’m excited to share my thoughts here.First, the book is packed with trivia questions that span the history of the sport. Their difficulty level feels just right – along the lines of questions you might see on Jeopardy – so they respect a longtime fan’s expertise, but in a way that doesn’t exclude more casual sports fans like myself. I’m nowhere near as knowledgeable as the author, but I was still happy with how many questions I was able to answer, and the ones I couldn’t just gave me a chance to learn more about college football's history, players, coaches, etc.The book covers a broad range of subjects, not just the powerhouse programs but a lot of fascinating highlights from smaller schools. And while 700 trivia questions might seem overwhelming, it never feels that way because they are cleverly divided into bite-sized sections which are broken up by deep dives into fascinating and fun topics like the evolution of the NFL draft, the “Heisman curse,” and even crazy moments like “Animals on the field.” In short, there’s something for every fan out there, regardless of which school may be your favorite or how steeped you are in college football lore.All of this is presented in an upbeat, engaging tone with plenty of humor that really brings home why sports fandom is such a powerful force in so many people’s lives. You get a sense of how, even as rivalries may separate us into what seem like opposing camps, the love of sports really does bring us all together. Right from the introduction in which the author reveals his own personal fave (Georgia Tech), he establishes a more universal point about how every fan has “their” team. That connection is very personal and can run deep. It reminded me of all the tailgating Saturdays I enjoyed in my college days and the sense of community they build. I even thought of my brother, whose favorite school is my college rival. I may still retain some animosity toward his school (which regularly beats mine) but the way fandom brings his extended family together is undeniable. That kind of affectionate devotion radiates from THE BIG BOOK OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL TRIVIA. No matter who you root for, you’ll feel it, too.

When it arrived, I Immediately sat down and read it cover to cover, delighted by the clever questions (read them carefully; they often contain a clue) and impressed by the many questions across a broad array of topics (as others have noted, there is a section for everything, even mascots!!).As someone who has been following college football since 1976, Halprin's book offered a trip down memory lane, reminding me of the special players, great bowl games and surprising draft picks from the formative years of my sports fandom. The book's wide historical swath produces questions with varying degrees of difficulty, from those "aha!" answers you know immediately to real stumpers that required me to comb through my mental hard drive. It's great fun!
