still got to use the full fuctions but so far pretty impressive
Used on ford transit custom and seat cupra both worked and assisted with locating issues.Update. This tool is s good at this price it has far more functions than I have used but its really good in auto scan its found the cars details on three cars so far.The two way communication allowed me to turn on and off the air conditioning compressor and fans allowing me to locate a fault on the a/c.It can produce graphs and log them of selected items and record them, I have an issue on my seat cupra occasionally under hard Acceleration I will be using it to log the engine so I can see what is going wrong. It can code keys and do lots of stuff i am only just finding out about. It will log, record and search the web for any codes it finds as its a tablet as well.If your thinking about it do it! Its good as any other reader but when it can do two way its a game changer. The company themselves seem to really care that you are pleased with the xtool, ive not needed help yet but they sent email saying if You have issues contact them and they will help you.Updateso ive had this several months now and used it a lot and its still well worth the money, had. an issue with my transit an resolved it with this as well as had others ask me to scan their cars, one person said this scanner had located faults the garage he used could not I emailed hilm the results direct from the tablet.so pleased I got it.

Super all-vehicle tool for the money
My past experience with good home-mechanic DIY tools goes back to buying VAG-COM in 2003/4. That tool was a revelation, and while I was happy enough to give up VAG cars, the one thing they did do right was the on-board diagnostics. What was annoying though was buying a new tool every time I needed to have a chat with another brand of car, especially as many were slow and the 2-way diagnostics didn't work properly. Most recently I bought a Lexus, and was wondering about buying a secondhand copy of Techstream - but then I saw a review on Youtube by a Toyota Master Technician (Car Care Nut) raving about how good this unit was for Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Not only that, but how very responsive the support was, and how much quicker in operation this unit was/is compared to Techstream for many functions. After much deliberation (Lexus being a posh Toyota, not much goes wrong!), I bought one, thinking that it would be good for the Lexus, and if it happened to do other cars as well, then so much the better. There's still Jags in the family, (AutoEnginuity), Ford (Forscan), Renault (Clip), Mini, Hyundai, and Mercedes.Obviously I tested it on the Lexus and found that it performed exactly as the video had described, the DTCs, live data, and actuation worked perfectly. The first real test of a problem was with the Renault in the family a few days later - dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree with brake faults. The owner of the car wanted to know if it was safe to drive because she had a long journey to do. The D7 worked perfectly on it - a 2019 Captur, identifying through a combination of DTCs and Live Data graphing an ABS sensor as being intermittently faulty over large bumps. The Xtool D7 is advertised as a multi-car multi-manufacturer tool, and on their website they have extremely comprehensive PDFs describing which systems their tools will work with on which cars from which manufacturer. From the testing I've done to date - the Youtube review and the claims are true - if I find a car it doesn't work with that it claims to in due course, I'll update this review. If I sound delighted, it's because I am. This tool replaces a whole drawerful of leads, dongles and associated test tools. It gets regular updates, it's fast, responsive and for a home/DIY mechanic like me, saving garage fees by doing my own work where possible, it's invaluable. Is better available - yes of course - SnapOn will happily relieve you of thousands! It's also worth remembering that XTool themselves make more expensive versions which can flash ECUs. That functionality might be better suited to a garage than an experienced home user but if you want/need it ... They also make cheaper bluetooth ones which work with tablets and phones, and if those suit you better, I'd say from this D7 experience other XTool products would be well worth investigating.

Xtool D7
When the Xtool D7 arrived i had high hopes. The case it came in looked sturdy and well made. The wifi was easy to set up, and alot of updates were ready to download straight away. Unfortunately my 21 year old car was not supported. Amazon and Xtool were very helpful in trying to sort this out, but alas it was not possible. After alot of emails back and to it was decided to return the Xtool D7 for a full refund. This process was straight forward and free of charge. If you are thinking of investing in the Xtool D7 i recommend emailing them first to make sure your car is covered by the tool, and all the funtions of the tool are available for your make of vehicle. The Xtool D7 has a huge array of functions, but it must be stressed that all functions may not be available for all vehicles, so its worth checking first...

Very good especially for the price
I've had this scanner for about 8 months now and I'm very happy with it. I spent a lot of time reviewing different entry level scanners before I bought this one and I think I made the right choice.Although I'm a home gamer now ive got a lot of "friends" once they find out I was a mechanic and I've used this on a lot of different motors. It's worked on everything I've plugged it into (bmw/mini,mercedes,ford,vauxhall,volvo,vw etc) and been able to do what I've asked including programming injectors on my boys fiesta and his mates ibiza , resetting window parameters on my xc90 (among finding other faults) and tracking down a very elusive can fault on my other sons car (the main reason I invested in this in the first place, saved me a fortune on repeated plug ins at the local garage). For the relatively low cost I would definitely recommend the D7 scanner, if I was going to be using it everyday I would upgrade to the Bluetooth version as the lead is a bit of a faf but it's plenty quick enough for what I do with it.The customer backup is great as well and I've found them very quick to respond to any queries.Next on the agenda is the eeprom reader to us this to sort one of the many gremlins I've found on the volvo!
