So good I’ve bought 3
Short version: I have bought 3 of these - one for each car we own - and I take it with me if renting a car. These things are fantastic if you’re a MagSafe phone/case user looking for an easy and adaptable vent mount!Long version: I use the vent mount and it has fit every car I’ve used it in. I can confirm the vent mount works fine in an Acura MDX, a vintage BMW 325, an BMW X5, a Toyota Sienna, Ford Exedition/Explorer, Chevy Traverse/Equinox, and the Euro market Honda Civic. and these are just awesome for all three. They really hold the phone well and the adjustments are perfect.I think my oldest one I have is over 2.5 years old and I’ve had no issues. The oldest performs as well as the newest. I’ve moved them between cars and usually take one out when I travel so I have one to use in the rental car on the other side. If I travelled more I’d probably buy a 4th - that’s how happy I am with these mounts.

Solid, Secure, Strong Magnet, Needs Proper Install
There are four common method of securing a phone in a car: (1) Window suction mount, (2) Air vent clip bracket, (3) Adhesive mount, (4) Weighted dash non-slip mount base. I ended up choosing to use the air vent clip method because it worked better for our situation.POTENTIAL PROBLEMS — I was concerned about this category of mount design because I read various product reviews that mention the vent fins eventually breaking, bending, or being damaged. I notice that vent fins vary in thickness and strength depending on the vehicle. So, I took a bit more time researching available products and decided on this one because it seemed sturdy and the adjustable solid retainer piece seemed well designed.BETTER DESIGN — Something important about this vent mount design is that it has two solid supporting feet to keep the bracket stable, putting less strain on the vent fins. The retainer clip that goes in and holds to the back of the vent fin is easy to extend and tighten.BEST INSTALL — Based on concerns about vent fin damage, I've decided to gently position this mount so the stabilizer feet are in place, and the metal hook retainer gently holds to the back of a vent fin, but I do not tighten the bracket to the max. This is important during use, and also when removing the phone. Rather than pulling hard on the phone trying to separate it from the bracket, which could pull the vent fin assembly out of the dashboard, instead, I use two hands to have one and holding the base and the other pulling on the phone. The weight of the phone helps hold the mount secure. I'm not off-roading or driving over potholes, so I'm not worried about the phone shaking and the bracket falling out.MAGNETS — It's hard to know what the experience of others will be, but the phone I use with the mount is an iPhone 14 Pro Max, so it is a bit heavy. I use a case with an embedded strong magnetic MagSafe ring in the case. I also use a MagSafe magnetic ring holder that allows for pass-through functionality of the MagSafe magnet connection function. As a result, from my experience, my phone holds very securely to this mount.MAGNETIC PHONE HOLDER RING — My magnetic phone holder ring has a stowaway 360-degree adjustable holder ring/loop, so I'm able to easily attach and remove my phone from the holder. I do notice that my phone holder ring tends to stick more securely to the mount than to my phone, so when I remove the phone, the ring stays on the mount. Sometimes that's preferred, other times, if I want to bring the phone holder ring with me, I'll remove it and put it on the phone.CONCLUSION — Due to variations in automotive fan vent fin assemblies, and variation in phones, cases, and accessories, it's possible there's not one perfect mount for everyone's situation. Yet, this unit does seem stable and versatile.

Works well in a 2022 Subaru Forester
The main thing I was looking for was a mount that would work on the vertical vent in a Forester and not block the view of any of the Forester's screens. I think this is a very good solution. It ends up having a 3 point connection to the frame of the vent, very solid. I had to put it at the top of the vent to avoid conflicts with the windshield control stock. The Forester has Apple CarPlay, (and my state has a law against touching your phone while driving), so I was really looking for a place to put my phone so it wasn't just laying in the console. I also like it in front of a vent to keep it cool while it's working on navigation or other compute tasks. There are several other parts in the box that I didn't need, but it is a complete, well thought out solution.

Great product design! Limited in some areas.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I liked the minimalist design which is what drew me at first, however the product is not as sturdy as I expected. I performs quite well but I specfically chose this one because of the limited options I have on my dash. This phone holder holds my phone at an awkward angle that no other phone holder can because of it, however because of that when I come to a bump the base swivel may shift if I hit a bump.Additionally, I did not notice/realize it also has an additional magsafe so if your spouse or another individuals frequently drives your car you can slap the sticker to their phone so it holds if their phones does not have magsafe capabilities.Works well:The magnet is very strong and requires tilting the head to pull your phone off. This is not a problem for me since the magnet swivel is very easy to rotate by hand but not so easy that it moves if going over a bump.

Be really careful unpacking it -- but once you get it set up, it's fabulous!
I'm sure it's a fine product but I never got the chance to try it. While taking the pieces out of the box, one of the magnetic rings was loose and latched just perfectly onto the mount. Can't get it off because it's so thin and my fingernails and tools can't get between the tiny magnet ring and the magnet itself, so can't use it, and because the other magnet ring now has to be picked up through the first one it makes the connection weak enough to not be useful. Such a bummer! Was really hoping this would be the solution for me.UPDATE: The company reached out to me and provided a replacement. After a few weeks of use, I can confirm that it works great! I'm really impressed by how sturdy it manages to be, while still having enough give to make getting my phone off a breeze. It really hits that perfect middle-ground of ease of use and function. After a decade of using crappy plastic snap-on or slide-in brackets of all shapes and sizes, I'll never go back! This is a total game changer. Updating my review to 5 stars wholeheartedly.
