Nuts and threads are metric
This unit appeared well-built, solid and heavy, like the original. I tested it and it made a nice click when activated and the primary resistance went to 0 like it should have. Not the unit's fault, but it was difficult to install due to the design of the oildyne trim pump in the Mercruiser I have. The down solenoid is placed such that it is pretty much impossible to get at the rear mounting bolt of the solenoid. After some trying, I had to remove the battery and unbolt the whole pump unit and tilt it backwards without spilling fluid, then I was able to get a box wrench ontp the rear mounting bolt and with 1/8 turns, was able to remove it. and install the new unit. Then when attaching the wire to the new unit, I found I couldn't use the old nuts on the new unit, the threads and nuts on the new unit were metric. Since I was on my knees the whole time, I had to get up and go get metric wrenches. After that, and some time making 1/8 turns tightening the rear mounting bolt, I was able to attach the wires and test the unit (using the second battery) and it worked fine. Then I had to reinstall the pump mounting bolts and the battery. It was a long process, all on my knees. But the bottom line is the solenoid was fine, all the =is extra work was due to the design of the oildne pump. I didn't want to get into disconnecting the hydraulic lines and removing the pump assembly to get access to that rear mounting bolt. But on youtube, most guys do that.
