PreSonusCentral Station PLUS: Studio Control Center with Remote Control

Probably one of the best pieces of gear I've purchased for my studio in a long while. I was primarily looking for a device that would allow me to connect the single main outputs of my interface to multiple sets of monitors, and switch between them or run them simultaneously. I was going to make a simple passive box but decided to opt for one of these as a more complete solution. This gave me the advantage of a larger volume dial than on the interface, plus the 4 headphone amps which are exceptional. It's packed with well thought out features too, such as the ability to send separate sources to a cue bus on any of the four headphone outputs, a dim level button with adjustable attenuation for the main outputs, full talkback function and even a cue output to feed an additional headphone amplifier or speakers in another room.I use the aux inputs to quickly play external devices through the monitors. Input 1 is fed by the interface, and input 2 is fed by the outputs of an electronic drum module so I can play the kit through the monitors without having to run it through the interface first. The line level outputs of the monitor station feed back into the interface, so I can record anything that goes through it be that the drums or computer audio. Add to that the fact that it's audibly silent and tonally transparent as far as I can tell and it really is one of the best tools you can add to a studio setup.

For the price this is the best monitor station out there. Transparant, plenty of ins/outs solid build and easy to use. Only regret that I have is that I didn't buy one earlier.

Excellent control

It is a good device But- It has got this digital sound about it. The analog signal that you feed to it, it has got a more analog-like well defined positioning in the space that the image occupies and when it goes through the Presonus the sound seems to me that it is digitally disintegrated and reconstructed. The frequency analogies are good although the bass+kick mass is positioned slightly lower in the whole mix. I don't know if the internal processing is done in the digital or analog domain but my guess is that it is digital. It is still a good machine but when I heard the 1st version of the device in the past I though it was more analog friendly to my ears.

I'm very disappointed; I bought this device based on customer reviews on here, and I'm sad to say there were inaccurate.I have two audio interfaces; an SSL 2, and and older Focusrite Saffire Pro 14. I like to switch between them, depending on use and application. If I plug in my monitors directly to either, I can barely tell the difference - maybe the SSL has the richer bottom end on the outputs, but there's barely anything between them.When I plumb either (or both) devices through the Presonus Monitor Station, it's a different world - but not in a good way. I'll mention I've been using the same monitors in the same room for ten years - I know my setup well, and how to compensate and adjust for it.This unit sucks all the low end and sub-bass out of the signals you feed it. And it emphasises mid-range, somewhere around 2K. I thought I was having 'new equipment paranoia', but I reconnected everything back how it was, and the difference was instant.In the main, functionally (barring sound colouration, which is never talked about), it does what it says on the tin, but even at that, there are a couple of bugbears; I have two audio interfaces connected. When I select the button to have them both coming out of the main bus, it's fine. When I deselect one of them, I get I load of hiss. I'll re-iterate - this is when I DE-select an input, so any possibility of hiss should be lessened. Not so here. Something very strange going on.On quality - generally the build of the chassis of the unit is good, but pot quality immediatly feels poor; the lightest touch makes them wobble. Alps pots these are not.When you power on the unit, it doesn't remember your last settings.I'm completely not sure about this item; from an audio perspective, it's kind of useless to me now. It does what it's supposed to (monitor), but it's not flat - not by a very, very long chalk. So what's the point?I might not pay so much attention to Amazon reviews from now on.

Dies ist mein zweiter. Der erste war ein gebrauchter und war nach 6 Jahre kaputt..Jetzt habe ich ein neuer gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden.

Headphone amps are powerful. Simple and straightforward. No pops or noise through monitors or headphones. This is definitely a must have for your studio desk. Being able to switch easily between my primary and secondary monitors, as well as feeding (very high power) headphone mixes has really sped up my workflow. Awesome.I will add that I've always been against mixing on headphones but that's probably because I've always used the headphone amps in whatever interface I'm using. The headphone amps in this are more than powerful to reproduce the dynamics you need to get a good feel for your mixes. I don't have any expensive dedicated headphone amps to compare this to, but this has been such a huge improvement for my project studio.
