Surprisingly, it is 8awg cable
This cord was suspiciously less expensive than competitors. Putting 5.000A through one leg of the cord, the voltage across it was 0.149V. This corresponds to 0.029 Ohm cable resistance. A calculator shows expected resistance of 0.025 Ohms / 40ft of copper so it's good enough for me!

Perfect high quality extension cable for my welder
Was going to make my own extension cord for my new stick welder. Priced up the cable and connectors at one of the big box home improvement stores and found it was going to cost me almost $3.00/ft for 10 gage cable and another $30 for the connectors (and the female connector was going to be something that would normally be a wall receptacle) so it would not have been an ideal solution. Googled welder extension cords and this one came up in the search. Cable is a flexible 40', 8 gage cable (better than I would have purchased) with molded cable mounted female/male connectors. Total cost of this cable is less than what it would have cost me to make one and a whole lot better. Highly recommended7/31/18 Update - still highly recommend the cable but it getting the welder plug out of the receptacle is near impossible. I had to unplug it from the wall and use a screwdriver to separate the two on one occasion. Guess this is good (thing will never inadvertently come apart) but I wish it were a bit easier.4/25/19 Update - have had it for almost a year now and still really happy I purchased it. Used it in winter weather and it remained quite flexible. Solved my issue with it being very difficult to unplug from my welder by filing the plug blades on my welder cord a small amount. Simple to disconnect now.

Great cord for welder or other 220v applications
Like the others wrote, This is a thick cable. Someone wrote the size of a garden hose, not quite, but still thick and well insulated. I did not have the issue others wrote about with the female end being too tight (giggity).

Quality chord. works well with my portable welder
Mine was slightly shorter than 40 foot but I don't really care. It literally is the diameter of a garden hose. Fits standard NEMA 6-50. Super tight connection at the receptacle. I could barely unplug my welder from it. I will also be purchasing the 25 foot chord. If you're here, get this one. Where are you gonna find a chord this gauge, with a jacket this thick, at this length, for this price? Nowhere else... I looked. If you find one leave me a comment. I'm always looking for more chords to power my toys.

Super Heavy Duty - Works well for my EV charger
I was looking for a high quality 240V / 30Amp extension cord to use with my EV charger - this extension cord has exceeded all expectations - highly recommend - don't skimp on quality with high voltage and amp extension cord.

Perfect power cord
This cord is just plain perfect. Some people complain about the connectors being too tight, but mine is butter-smooth on each end, gripping with confident hold, yet disconnecting with a very manageable force and ultra smooth connections and disconnections. The neon light on the connector is also a nice bonus. The heavy gauge wire is a large diameter, but the cable is nice and flexible. I don't see how anyone could expect more from a power cord of this gauge.

tight fitting
the female electrical socket will fit male plug blades extremely tight even with dielectric grease on the blades. Had to use small pry bars to disconnect them, it took a while. This was the 220v 40A model cord, had to file down my male blades with jewelers files and emery cloth then dielectric grease connect & disconnect is much easier now. Side note- be shire to tur off your circuit breaker if you have to pry your cords apart.

Clean power but didn't handle the current.
I purchased this extension cord to run my mig welder on some 1/4 material. In the past I have run it off a generator and been disappointed in the weld quality and hoped that having clean power would help. I am happy to say that it did, it burned in very smooth. My poor review is because when I finished my project and was cleaning up I noticed that the Male end of the cord had developed discoloration from overheating. I was under the impression that this cord would be able to handle the current. My picture compares the color of both the male and female ends so you can see the overheated plastic.

Good value but could be better
great value for the money as it is genuine stranded copper 8guage cable with proper ends on it, however the outer sheathing is a little stiff even at above freezing temps im skeptical how itll handle a canadian winter outside, also the female plug is a really tight fit even after 20-30 uses it cant be pulled apart by hand, i have to unplug the cord and use a steel bar to pry the connection apart.. it seems to be the ground prong that gives the trouble but i dont know what a solution would be maybe some dielectric grease

Good quality and a very reasonable price
Great extension cord. Thick cord, durable plugs. Much better value than anything you will find locally. All the hardware and hobby shops in the area had NEMA 6-50 extension cords for a minimum of $150 and some well over $200. I didn't need a 40 or 50 foot cord, just a cord to reach around my garage. The 20ft cord is perfect and a great value.

Good quality but not 20 Feet!
I purchased this back in July of 2020 and recently completed my shop to do some welding. I didn't open the package (my fault) until now and can't return it. This extension cable is only 19 feet, not the 20 feet as advertised. I guess for every 19 of these they make they can make another one!

Excellent build quality
I measured incorrectly and needed a tad over 40 ft of cable, so I ended up returning this extension. That said, the build quality is excellent. If you need 40 ft or less for welding this is a good choice.

Very nice.
Now this is an extension cord. Good for personal or industrial. Very nice. Well done. Most stuff I buy these days I curse as over seas cheap junk. Not this. This is nicely made. Well worth it.
