Paper Mate PhD Multi 3-in-1 Retractable Ballpoint Pen and Pencil, Color May Vary (69182)

If you would like to carry around two pens and a pencil in your pocket, but you don't want to look like a geek, you might instead carry a multi-pen. However, this fat plastic pen will not look stylish in a shirt pocket with a business suit. If you want a stylish multi-pen, the Cross Tech 3 is the best I found so far, but that costs about $35. In spite of its looks, I have to give this five stars, because it works great, feels good in the hand, and is a great value at less than $10. The pens write smoothly, but the red is a bit dark.

It makes you feel incredible. You just can't put it down. I use it so often that I no longer have a need to use my voice. I just write stuff down and stick it via post-it notes to various individual's chests in which I once vocally interacted with.It is very sturdy. I use the mechanical pencil portion as an ice pick.It works great as a tattoo gun though I wouldn't recommend using their ink for your permanent body art.

I bought this product for my boss because she was complaining/stating that she has to carry a small pencil case to carry her pens and pencils around to bring to work, meetings, so I mentioned this to her and she thought it was brilliant (she had never heard of this product though I know because sanrio has made these for years). I bought her one and she loved it, she said that it was great to have a pencil/pen combo in one! It's nice that one the back of the package it tells you exactly what refills to buy when you need.

Thick and lightly heavy pen for a comfortable writing experience (includes triangular, ergonomic silicone grip).Having 2 pen colours plus a mechanical pencil in one utensil is exceedingly practical (I've never been able to turn back)I personally prefer gel/liquid ink over Paper Mate's solid ink but was able to find and substitute the pens with replacements from a different brand. (Thin gels are very rare however)Sturdy materials and construction (clip won't bend back, for example) Inks haven't faded from the barrel in the slightest.

The pen does, in fact, have a black ballpoint pen and a pencil. BUT, in place of a RED pen cartridge, as represented, it is empty with an ORANGE PLASTIC PLUG as a tip. I ordered 3 at $8.99 each and am VERY disappointed in the failure of these products to live up to their description of "3-in-1". I feel tricked and deceived. I would have normally returned such a terrible and inferior product but, I did not make the 30 day deadline as I was in a middle of a long distance move plus the packaging was discarded. The end result is that I have paid $26.97 for dust-catching junk that was supposed to streamline my work. Amazon Fulfillment is normally quite good but, NOT IN THIS CASE.

I have the pen and matching pencil and they are great. Have a nice quality feel to them and look exactly like the picture here. So, I figured I would purchase this Multi 3 in 1. Big mistake. The product that I received was not the same as the picture in this website. The manufacturer has definitely cut corners on this pen, and that's why it's not made anymore. First, the entire pen was made of a much cheaper plastic. It felt cheap just to hold it. The mechanism inside also felt cheap. The chrome peace on the writing end was a gunmetal grey cheap piece of plastic. The top part was not flat on top as in the picture, but was rounded and ugly.The product in the picture is a really high quality. The product that I received I wouldn't pay $5 for at WalMart. When I called Amazon, they were not helpful at all until I requested to speak to a supervisor. She was very kind and helpful and bent over backwards to make up for my inconvenience. They are sending me another unit today, and I am waiting for it to be delivered. I will update when I receive it later this afternoon.Received the second pen today and it was also the wrong pen. In the picture below, the pencil on the right is what I should have received but with the cherry red barrel. The pen on the left is what I received twice. Huge difference in quality also.

This is great, especially if you write alot and have arthritis. I don't use the red much, but I did test it out. I use the black mostly, and the pencil almost as much as the black. Several years ago, I bought a PhD (pen only) at Walmart for like $6. They've gone up since then. lol At first I thought this was a bit pricey, until I saw that Walmart wants more for a pen only than this 3-in-1 is. lol I haven't had to refill the ink or the pencil part yet. It writes very well for all 3.
