Decent rotary tool for light projects

I own four different dremels and use them all the time. So I figured I could judge this fairly well.First off, it's small. Smaller than the others, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's small enough for gentle work like engraving as it is easy to manipulate. Secondly, it is NOT cordless. I knew this going in, but the "18v" wordage is used 99% of the time, for cordless tools. Most pics in the sale ad only show a small little area where the cord goes so I am sure some will not realize it is corded.Thirdly, it is for light work ONLY. It was easy to get this unit to bog down under medium duty projects so it is not a workhorse by any means. It is however, a good starter rotary tool for hobbyists and or rc plane/heli pilots and models builders.Bits are of "ok" quality, Not great, not terrible. They are useable and offer many tips as well as a nice storage case. The stand is also decent and it holds the tool well and keep it organized.I am happy with the unit, especially for the price point. Well made for light duties and a good starter set.

Good tool with some confusing points

For the price, I think this is a very good rotary tool kit. In the box is the Huepar RT18 rotary tool, a stand with places to store bits and accessories, a 51 piece accessory kit with a variety of bits, sanding discs, cut off wheels and polishing pads and a multi-language User Manual. The tool has a variable speed dial with four speed settings. There is a rubber panel on the top to rest your finger on which allows for very good control of the tool. A small button locks the collet in place for easy tool-less accessory changes. The accessories that come with the tool do not seem to be of the highest quality but there is a good variety so you can figure out what you need most and replace them as needed with a little better version. The included stand holds the top well when not in use and the holes in the base make it easy to store the bits and accessories you need for a particular project. This is my first time using a rotary tool so I think it will take some practice to really get the feel for the tool and how to use it best for various tasks but it has plenty of power. In doing some testing it didn't bog down, even when applying firm downward pressure on the tool.All-in-all, I think this is a good value and should provide excellent results for your lighter duty tasks or hobby work. All that said, there are a couple of things that confuse me about this tool. First, it is advertised on Amazon as an "18V Rotary Tool". To me, saying it is an 18V tool made me think it was cordless. Maybe I should have realized it would be hard to get an 18V battery into such a small product but I think it is misleading to call it an 18V tool when it runs on 110V AC power.Second, I am confused by the electric power configuration. The tool has an electric cord that is just over 5 feet long. That long cord makes it easy to use the tool, even if you don't have an AC outlet right next to you. But that cord ends with a female plug. Included in the kit is a 110V AC adapter with a short 6" cord and a male plug that connects to the cord on the rotary tool. There is nothing wrong with this but why bother? Why not just make the AC adapter permanently connected to the cord? Better yet, How about putting the connector on the end of the tool so you can completely disconnect the cord from the tool for easy storage.None of this impacts the ability to use the tool or the performance. It just seems like an unnecessary design.Maybe I'm being harsh but I took off 1 star because of the confusion about this being an electric tool rather than cordless but I think the description should be clearer.

It's ok

This is a nice light-duty rotary kit, but I think you can find better for the money. Certainly it's not a dremel, and is priced accordingly -- but even so, it seems like there are a lot of other low-cost kits out there which at least appear to have more going for them -- be it that they're more heavy duty, or come with a nice hardshell case, or are cordless, or come with more accessories -- for the same or lower prices.Compared to the competitors, I think if this was $25 it might be a five-star offering. And if you set pricing aside, I think this is a nice kit that you'll be happy with, if you want a light duty, pen-style, corded tool, which is why I'm not taking it down to a three. But if I was spending my own money, I think I'd be looking especially hard at the various products WEN offers in the category.

NOT battery operated, good basic rotary tool

So let me state from the start that this is strictly a PLUG in powered tool. It's advertised as a "18v" rotary tool which is normally more implied that it is run by DC "battery" powered. While it may have a DC motor and running at 18v, it's only a plug in tool and you need to have an available AC outlet to get this running (with the included DC adapter). You can theoretically connect an 18v battery but it's still wired and you would need to make your own power adapter to that battery. That being said, the tool itself is very compact and easy to hold compared to my AC Dremel which is far heavier and thicker. It's much more hand friendly so you can polish, cut or grind items easier and with more precision. It has a speed dial so you can adjust the RPM and it's quieter than the Dremel. The motor can do most tasks - though at less power than a full fledged Dremel. It comes with a nifty stand and of course the requisite accessory/tools including an extra collet.Overall, it works as advertised. It's compact and easy to hold. The description is a little misleading - as it's not a portable, battery operated device.

Light Weight, But Handy

This is a light weight tool but it works very well for small projects or models. It was advertised as an 18V tool, which makes you think it's cordless, but it actually has an AC adapter that provides the 18V. It's kind of neat that the line to the 18V adapter has a barrel plug on it that plugs into the AC adapter with the barrel receptacle. This indicates to me that you could put a barrel receptacle on a cordless tool battery and then you would have a portable tool that could be carried anywhere, even it there was no AC power available.

Handy Tool!

The Huepar Tools Rotary Tool kit, 18V Rotary Tool Set with Stand and 51 PCS Accessories are very handy. The rotary tool is small, easy to maneuver, and bits can be changed easily. It is powerful for its size with 18,000 RPM's on its highest setting. It comes with a 51 piece accessory kit, a beginner's set. I thought it was rechargeable by looking at the picture, but it is electric. I like the stand that keeps it out of the way. This is a great little rotary tool if you want to do some hobbies.
