It can be used as a switch as long as the voltage is 12v or less and no more than 1.2 amps, you may be better off using a micro switch

As long as the contact remains undamaged it will last many years.

It’s just a switch, so should work with any alarm connected to a door.

The two silver screws connect internally to the magnetic normally closed reed switch, closed circuit when magnet is in close proximity.
