Q: When is the Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 going to be available?

Q: Will the firmware eventually be upgraded to support matter? It was initally promised, but now I don't see mention of this anymore.

The FP2 is a WiFi device and does not need a hub to bridge from the Aqara world to IP. The FP2 connects directly to Alexa and I believe also Home Kit and Google without the need of a hub because it is a native IP device. For further info I would contact Aqara from the link on their website.

Q: What's a good practical use for this sensor besides turning on lights in a specific zone?

It’s more about turning things OFF, as it can tell you when everyone has left, which motion sensors can’t do.
