Works well with nimh rechargeable batteries

Imo the reception on both am and fm is excellent. The sound quality exceeds my expectations. The radio works well using nimh batteries. Another radio I bought which takes two aa batteries will not turn on using nimh batteries. A good buy for $10 if you want a radioThat uses aa batteries. If you don't mind a radio that uses an easily swappable rechargeable lithium battery( BL-5C), then the Boespatr B03 or Retekess v115 would imo be a better choice. These other radios are under $20 and also play mp3 files on a micro SD card.

This radio does not work.

Tried to change the time and it didn't work. Tried to find stations and it does not work. I would have wanted to save the stations that I listen to, but was not able to do that. I bought several years ago another radio that worked perfectly and wanted this as replacement, but it will not do. Will re order the same model as the one before.

Terrible AM radio. Other features are great.

Cons:It can pick up only one AM station when other radios can pick up 20. The entire AM band is buzzy noise. It has no SW (short-wave) feature despite the description.Pros:Good FM reception.Simple, sensible controls.Holds a lot of presets (at least 20 on FM).Runs on common AA batteries (2).Low power LCD display, a good thing since it has a built-in clock mode when the radio is off.Display backlight shuts off in a few seconds.LED flashlight feature. Kind of a gimmick but for post-hurricane use would come in handy.Great price.

Fading volume while tuning makes this radio annoying to use.

This radio is okay for the most part. The functions work as expected, and performance is typical of most of these cheap radios. However, there are a few major issues that really hold it back from being a gem.For a pocket radio, this thing is rather large. But for some reason the telescopic antenna is surprisingly short. This can easily be addressed by clipping a wire to the antenna, but given the dimensions of the radio, I expected that the antenna would have been at least 12" in length. The viewing angle of the LCD screen is not great. When looking at it straight on, with no angle at all, the output on the display is barely visible. So you have to tip the radio forward or back in order to see what the display says. The biggest flaw, and this one really outweighs the others in terms of severity, is the way the volume fades on frequencies where there is not a strong station. I spent quite a while messing around with this to see if there were any quirks to make it less bad. Basically what happens is if you tune to a frequency that's just static, or perhaps there's a weak station, the volume immediately fades until it's very low. To make matters worse, let's say you're able to reposition the radio so that reception improves, it won't matter because the volume stays low. While this is easily remedied by simply changing frequency and then returning to the weak station, this should not be necessary. For most people this issue probably won't matter as they will be listening to strong stations, but lots of us enjoy hunting weak stations and this fading behavior makes that really difficult. If you're considering this radio, I recommend checking out the Ratakee pocket radio instead. It's got similar dimensions, a long antenna, better display, and is a solid performer all around. Looks like it is currently cheaper that this one.
