Nice basic chain pliers with rubbery grip handle, makes it non slip and firm holding. Return spring is a nice feature. Paint job is decent and even. Squeeze is smooth and easy to work. I would say entry level and glad to add them to my tool kit.

I've got 7 bikes now and I'm a bit embarrassed that I don't have master link pliers in my tool box. I always thought they were a "nice to have" item rather than a necessity because I was getting along ok with needle nose pliers dipped in liquid rubber. When I saw these pliers, I figured it was time to try them out and if nothing else, it would give me back a set of needle nose pliers.I really didn't know what I was missing! Sure, you can cuss your way through trying to hold everything just right to not damage the chain or end up pinching off some of your finger skin (all things I've done), but wow is it nice to not even think about it anymore. Amazing how having the right tool for the job can make tasks so much less intimidating. Now I've been cleaning my chain after every ride instead of once a month like before and my drivetrain is staying much cleaner overall and shifting performance has been noticeably improved. The pics are from the first use of these pliers and you can see how caked up my chain is....oops!I want to kick the old me for putting off a dedicated set of master link pliers.As for the pliers themselves, there's not a whole lot to report, the things just work. They're solid feeling, no slop in the pivot, spring tension is good, and the handles are large enough that there's no pressure points on your hands when operating. Simple and strong unit - 5 stars all around!

This chain tool worked perfectly on my Santa Cruz mountain bike. It has a good amount of weight to it and the plastic grips are comfortable to hold and squeeze in my hand. I actually prefer the soft plastic grip as opposed to rubber because I know these will last for many years to come. I tested removing and reinstalling my chain link and was able to do both on my first try. The pliers have a very satisfying spring action to keep them open which is super useful, especially when re-installing your chain link so it stays in place until you are ready to fully expand using both hands (the chain link does not fall off). The other thing I wanted to make sure was the angle of the tips are curved enough so they don't slip from my chain when either closing or opening. Sure, this tool is great for bike shop work. But, I loved it because I was able to use it to rescue a ride where my chain broke off. Granted, I had to do additional work when I got back home, but I was able to get home from the ride thanks to this tool. It’s packable and easy to use on your chain.

Unlike another pair of pliers I bought, these pliers work well for the job they were designed for. The other pliers' handles were too short, making them difficult to use. The handles on these are longer and more comfortable. The longer handles allow me to get more leverage when installing a new chain. If you are installing or repairing your own chain(s), these are the pliers you need!
