Doctor Who: Season 1 (2024)

THESE AREN'T THE ADVENTURES YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!
I love TV. DR WHO especially. Thought " It's a Sin " was one of the best things I'd seen in years. I wrote an earlier, complimentary review of this season. Which I have now taken down. For after watching episode six - all of my goodwill has been ERODED.WHO, in their right mind, would take an established black character and make them white? A long running female icon, and turn them male? Take a beloved fictional gay character: and make them straight? You think they had a problem ... Right? There are many words for this. And yet the exact flip of the above, is exactly what has happened to DR WHO. For me - the greatest character of them all. More books written about him than even Sherlock Holmes. WHAT ON EARTH are those in charge of this once great creation thinking of? This so - called Season One isn't progression. IT'S PAP! Using the new global platform NOT to appeal to the widest possible audience, with the show's inherent brilliance: BUT to push a selfish agenda.I'm mixed race, a liberal person - and proud. But episode six of this new programme makes me very cross. Furious. This isn't making the best of something - it's destruction. If this is what DR WHO has become now, then it needs a very long rest indeed. MAYBE one day, it can come back as a FILM SERIES: JUST LIKE BOND. Made by people who respect the original concept. Not trying to cast it in their own image. In summary: YUCK!

Unknown (As yet?)
People have many opinions on this new Series but I haven't watched it yet (Apart from the Christmas Special) & I'm unlikely to at it's ridiculous current price which still hasn't dropped in the last 6 months or so. Regardless of what other people say I can form my opinion myself when I get to watch it. I always ignore the naysayers & I think I will probably enjoy some of it. I'm very interested in the 'Pyramids Of Mars' new version that will be on this & also get to re-watch the Christmas Special as that's also on here to. I don't know if this Disneyfied production has resulted in the price change but can't justify the price. So hopefully in a year when it's dropped to a more reasonable £20 or so I'll buy it. Having drudged through the 13th. Doctor (Which was very hit & miss) then really enjoying the 14th. Doctor Specials we shall have to see. What I think most people want is to tell a good story (Regardless of Special Effects) that they enjoy & can think about. As they say time will tell!

Agenda Driven Doctor Who.
Poor acting with stories that don't give any explanations and very Lazy writing with Russell T Davies's own personal agenda's shoved down everybody's throat. This is Not Doctor Who as it should be. The Classic Doctor Who collection boxsets coming out on Bluray are Far Better than this Rubbish and with Far better actor's as the Doctor.

Ignore the review bombing, this is the best the show has been in over 10 years
Unfortunately everyone is review bombing this series down to racism/homophobia rather than actual rating the quality of the season. While the series has several plot holes and disappointing answers to questions, it's the most I've been interested in the show since Matt Smith's first series in 2010 which is when I drifted off as a longtime fan of the show. Can't wait for more and unfortunately not surprised to see people attacking the show calling it woke to cover their veiled racism

Gatwa and Gibson the ONLY good thing
The first episode Space Babies was so infantile I thought it was David Walliams who wrote it! Not a good way to relaunch a new series. The series improved a little with Devil's Chord and 73 Yards and, it was good to see the return of Sutekh however, the conclusion that Ruby Sunday's mum was just an 'ordinary person was the most disappointing thing in the whole series! Doctor Who in 2024 bares very little resemblance to the 2005 -2022 years and absolutely NO resemblance to the classic series of 63-89! On a final note the cost of the dvd is ludicrous and just plain greedy...especially when fans, if they want, can watch it on BBCi player.

The Doctor is Back!
The best season for a very long time, possibly since the days of the 10th and 11th Doctors. Space Babies was a weak episode and the series finale was something of a letdown but, other than that, the stories have been great, particularly Boom, 73 Yards and the outstanding Legend of Ruby Sunday. Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson make a dream team as the new Doctor and his companion. Millie deserves a BAFTA for her brilliant performance. Nevertheless, £40 seems a ridiculous amount to pay for the DVDs (or £50 on Blu-Ray), especially as you can watch it for free on iPlayer. Mostly excellent season but greedy pricing so only four stars.

Oh dear
A once great series just a piece of trash, was ruined before Disney got there hands on it but they and Davies have finished the job, gatwa is a terrible actor and can only play himself, the stories, and writing are dreadful, this is now the timeless child as dr who died many years ago, get the original series on blu ray to see how it should be done, avoid at all costs.
