I really like this thing. Physically, it feels like you're getting a premium product, even down to the packaging. The base feels solid and sturdy, and the magnets are solidly strong. The flexibility of that base lets you utilize it for a quick glance, because you can place it in quite a few different areas and see how your cook is going, especially with the impressively bright display.In terms of software function, the probes all tested pretty accurate out of the box, but there's a calibration function that I feel is always necessary with these types of products. The app looks very good, and there are a lot of features to access within the software. The shortcomings within the app are specifically related to the alarm system, at least on iOS. The app offers you the ability to choose from a bunch of different sounds, all of which are very audible. However, these sounds will not be what you hear when your phone is asleep, but only when the app is actually open. It's possible that this limitation only exists on iOS, but the sound that you're limited to is unfortunately not very loud at all. I tested it to go off at sometime during the middle of the night, and it failed to wake me up when my pork shoulder hit about 150 degrees at about 3am. This is unfortunate, since a BBQ thermometer should be oriented toward very long cook times. This thermometer has AMAZING battery life, but I do not recommend falling asleep during that duration because you might not be successfully awoken if your cook ends up having problems overnight, such as a pellet grill running out of pellets. It would be a perfect BBQ thermometer if InkBird could improve this aspect of the device, because the phone is an important feature in what the goals of this product are. What’s great about InkBird: I reached out to customer service, and they said that development is working on improving this within the app. I will update this review if this alarm feature improves.The base has its own alarm on board, which is VERY loud. I could hear it through a wall easily. You won't wonder what's going on in the daytime, or when you're anywhere near your cook. I tried to test the range of the base station VS the probes, and there is pretty good distance that can be achieved between them. I'd still suggest keeping them moderately close. I also tried closing my garage door with my smoker in the driveway, and unfortunately the metal of the garage door interfered with the connection too much when the base was left inside. I ended up magnetizing it under a shelf on my smoker during a VERY cold winter day, and the device held up perfectly fine. But this is only the bluetooth connection. In terms of WiFi, there was flawless performance connecting to my router.Wireless probes in general are a total revelation for long cooks, especially ones that require some form of rest. I move my pork shoulder into my oven at a resting temperature, mostly so that it could hold temp until dinner time, and I just left a probe right inside there the entire time. By this point I moved the base station indoors and just stuck it to my fridge. Very convenient!Battery life on the probes was great. I cooked for a solid 12 hours, and rested for 4 hours. After 16 hours, the probes I used were still showing 50% charge, and the base station was at 75%. The base will likely deplete faster if you keep the brightness too high on the display, but I had it somewhere near the middle. In terms of battery life, this thing can handle pork shoulders, briskets, and other super long cooks.The only single issue for me is that quiet alarm when the phone is asleep. It absolutely needs to be customizable, or switched to a default sound that is extremely loud. I'd rather be annoyed by a screaming alarm than miss an important alert, especially if I have hundreds of dollars worth of meat on my smoker. Considering the price, I still think this is a highly functional tool that is well worth the money. If InkBird improves the app capabilities, I really do think it would be just about perfect.

I recently purchased this thermometer and I’m really impressed with its performance! I have a brick house so range has always been a concern with thermometers. The range on the Inkbird is fantastic, even better than my Meater block and my Chef IQ probes, allowing me to monitor from further away without interruption. The range is comparable to my Thermoworks thermometer. When the connection does drop, it reconnects quickly. This was one of my primary complaints with other thermometers.My favorite feature is the magnetic base unit, which allows me to mount it directly to my grill or to leave on the front of my fridge for easy reading. The app is easy to use but I find it more convenient to be able to look at the base unit directly without having to open my phone. This is where the Inkbird stands out from its competitors – all of which require you to open the app to monitor your cook.The app is similar to those offered by the other brands, providing a catalog of common cooks, the ability to repeat prior cooks, and the ability to monitor meat and ambient temp over a period of time. The app and base work well together to let me customize temperatures and timers for different meats.The probes are well-made and cleaning has been a breeze thus far. I’m not sure if it is supposed to be dishwasher safe but I have cleaned them that way several times without any issues. The ends are a bit wider which is a plus since my Meater probes fall out of the silverware tray in my dishwasher fairly frequently. My only minor concern is that the numbers painted on each probe might wear off over time, but so far they have held up well through several uses and washes.The probes are fairly accurate, closely matching the temp shown on my hand held thermometer. The only glitch I’ve noticed is that you get an error warning that the probe is too hot if it touches the grates when you flip meat and the probe is not straight in. I’ve gotten better at putting the probe in so that’s been less of an issue now, but you do need to be a bit more careful with thinner cuts of meat.Overall, I highly recommend this thermometer. It’s durable, easy to use, and delivers great results! Definitely a greatr value for all it does.
