This 4GB cartridge can hold about 400 hours of talking book audio because each gigabyte holds approximately 100 hours of talking book audio, formatted for the National Library Service of the Library of Congress (NLS) for use on the NLS Digital Talking Book Player. It can also be used to store & play books that are downloaded from the NLS BARD website. It also works with the APH’s (American Printing House for the Blind) Book Port DT, and APH's Joy Player (Note: APH's Joy Player is not enabled to play NLS Talking Books). It is also compatible with Humanware’s Victor Reader Stream (adapter required). It is compatible with MP3 and Daisy file formats. It is important to know that in order to load data onto this cartridge; it does require a data transfer cable to connect it to your computer. This cable will work with any computer that has a standard USB port. Standard USB extension cables will also work to transfer data to this cartridge. To download books from BARD (the NLS book download website) you must be an authorized NLS patron.

So many books when you want them
Opens the door to new books without waiting for the mail. I download the zip file to my laptop. Then I create a folder with the title of the book. For example "Johnny Tremain". Then I unzip the files into the folder and copy the folder onto the cartridge. This way I can keep multiple books organized on the cart. Easier to delete books which are already read this way. So much better than using a standard USB drive sticking out of the side of the player Needs a special cable available from Amazon for five bucks.

It works!
I bought one of these cartridges for my grandma who has the audio player. I currently don’t have access to the talking library so I downloaded an mp3 of a book from LibriVox and put it on the cartridge. It works just like a USB stick, just copy & paste the files you need. You do need a USB extension cable so you can plug the cartridge into your computer. I bought mine at Walmart for $5. The cartridge is a minty green color, not a royal blue like the picture shows but that doesn’t matter to me or grandma. Most importantly, my grandma is happy she can listen to more books now!

Good cartridge for Library of Congress player.
Good cartridge for Library of Congress books. Fits the player perfectly and has plenty of capacity to store enough books to keep you entertained for quite some time.

Glad we can get blank cartridges now.
Perfect for putting many talking books on one cartridge. Just remember, you'll need to get the cable so you can download to it.
