Bad drain back valve and sucks in air causing lean condition under load, and
Installed 3 years ago when I did an engine swap, had some problems with trying to start when returning to vehicle after about 30 mins to a couple hours, would crank to bring fuel back up , and then would start and run fine at idle on second crank cycle.I had to drain the fuel form the tank to pull, and noticed with the clear hose I was using there was a lot of air coming through the lines which would explain the lean condition under load. I would stick with a genuine AC Delco if you want reliability. (I know Delphi makes them for GM, but as others have noted there seems to be some design differences in the one I have and the AC Delco models).

Also actually DID have the level sensor. Also has the tank pressure sensor. Exactly what I’d hoped. Not a knockoff.

Don’t waste your time!!
Amazon sold me a Delphi fuel pump it was delivered on its original packaging. It’s damaged .. I requested a replacement… it’s damaged again.. No more replacements available.. Now U have to wait 5 to 7 business days after they receive the defective parts in order to get a refund for defective parts they sold …

Great deal, and an improved design
You need to save the fuel level sender on your old unit to use with this one. I spotted several design improvements that will hopefully extend the life of this fuel pump. Note that the regulator and filter are permanently integrated into this fuel pump and should last the lifetime of the pump. I troubleshot mine with Actron CP7838 Professional Fuel Pressure Tester and found that the drainback valve was leaking, causing hard starting due to a lack of initial fuel pressure.

OEM FIT
Purchased this delphi fuel pump module to install in a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban. PArt arrived quickly and this is the OE supplier for the fuel pump on this vehicle, needless to say the pump fit perfectly and performed to OE specs. Aftermarket pumps can vary significantly in quality so this OE pump is a good choice for longevity in your vehicle. Price is excellent compared to the GM dealer.

Mechanic suggested Delphi
A mechanic friend told me if I wanted to change the fuel pump again in a year to buy a cheap one, if not buy a Delphi. I would also recommend buying a new retaining ring at the same time.
