Sooo easy. We used these locks on our bikes in denmark and couldn’t wait to get one on my bike at home. Easy to install, simple to use. Someone already tried to cut my “chain” but didn’t break the outer layer.

I've just installed this lock on my Marin Kentfield 2 (XL) with fenders. It seems to be of excellent quality for the price (although time will tell). Definitely not a heavy-duty solution but great for quick stops, tossing your bike on the bus rack, or a little extra peace of mind. Don't be afraid of mounting difficulty; the included backplate was useless to me, but the many holes allow for rock-solid attachment with a few zip ties (see photos).The keys seem sturdy enough.Will update if any issues manifest.

I hadn't seen this type of lock, until about a month ago, when I started looking for a different, yet CONVENIENT locking system. I found out that 'frame locks' are used a lot, over in Europe. BUT ... they are mainly used when just stopping off for a few minutes at their OUTDOOR pub, or grabbing an item in their local market. They are NOT used for overnight, outdoor lock-ups. Good locks, but I would NEVER just use this to lock up my +$800 mt. bike, if it was out of sight from me.Every summer, I ship my mt. bike to Hilton Head Island, where I spend +3 hrs. a day riding. This lock works perfect, for what I need. I keep the included cable in my hydration backpack, and wrap it around the nearest pole, loop it thru my frame, plug it into the frame lock. I ALSO close the frame lock itself. Works great, as most folks haven't seen these locks, and it does what I need .... DISCOURAGE someone from grabbing my bike, while I grab something for 2 minutes, at a nearby store. I've used mine for several months, and found it works like I thought. I STRICTLY use it for short duration stops, or while locking up with a group of other riders. But never overnight, outdoors. A pair of bolt cutters would defeat this cable (and most other lock cables). A thief would take it elsewhere, to figure out how to defeat the actual FRAME LOCK portion.There's other vendors (especially European brands) selling lots of Frame Locks. Most sell for +$40, or more. And most DO NOT include the cable with it, but charge an extra $20 - $30. This lock appears to be the SAME level of quality, compared to others. The quality of the materials is very good. It operates smoothly. This lock combo is a great bargain.You DO have to be a bit creative, when MOUNTING this. These are NOT MADE for most American-type of bikes, but can be modified to work (see below), without much effort/cost. I have non-disc brakes, the V-style type. There are vendors who sell types of (special) straps that you can use to wrap around your bike frame, then attach it to this lock. They don't look sturdy, as far as long-term durability, or very secure (against theft). They looked like a cheap way to try to jeery-rig a solution. A 'no-go' for me. I looked around and actually found one of the frame lock makers (ABUS) that sells an add-on bracket (includes 2 brackets, for about $8), that actually bolts right onto where your brake lever arms attach to the bike frame. It's MADE special, to do that. (See this Amazon link ...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WN91YY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). You simply loosen/remove your bolt from your brake arm (carefully leaving the brake arm assembly IN PLACE), then put this bracket on top of the brake arm, and then insert and tighten the bolt as normal. DO it for both sides.Then, you have your attachment points. The hardware screws included with the brackets (used to attach your frame lock to the brackets) were kind of wonky, as they seemed like sheet metal screws, that you'd have to use a power driver to get them started. No worries, as I grabbed a couple of small bolts/nuts I had in my collection, used them instead of the included hardware, and they worked just fine. Be creative, and it won't be a big deal. Sounds more complex than what it is.Cool part is, if you briefly looked at my bike, you probably wouldn't even notice the added lock, as it sorta blends in with the rest of my full-suspension bike. Side note ... the kickstand is one I bought on Amazon. It simply slips onto a little protruding nub that you fasten to the rear wheel spindle. Once installed, you can take off/add/ the 'kickstand' in 5 seconds. It even comes with a holder that can be installed underneath your water bottle holder, OR ... it also folds into 2 sections (sort of like a shock-cord pole for a tent), and can be thrown in your backpack. A pretty slick way to avoid a conventional kickstand. In my case, I couldn't attach a standard kickstand, due to the bike frame frame tubing. Granted, most higher-quality mt. bikes don't have a kickstand. And most folks would rather not lay them or the ground, or lean against a tree/pole. Problem solved, for about $20.As a side note ... Whenever I hear folks complaining that their bike got stolen, using ANY kind of cable locking system, I just figure they probably are novice biker riders/owners. I would NEVER, EVER leave any bike outside, overnight, without using one (or more) U-bolt lock systems, that can effectively lock your frame AND wheels to some non-removeable pole or something similar. Remember, bike thieves have seen your bike locked up numerous times, and have had time to figure out HOW they might steal it. Be smart about securing your bike. Make your bike HARDER to steal, than someone else's, nearby.
