A Good 3-Way: A Lutron PJ2-WALL-WH-L01 Pico Remote Control with Wall Mounting Kit Review
I recently installed the Lutron P-PKG1W-WH Caseta wireless in-wall light dimmer for use in our media room. We were using Lutron Maestro dimmers in a 3-way configuration, and I wanted to replace them with a remote controlled set. When I received the Lutron Caseta dimmer, I discovered there wasn't a companion dimmer to set up a 3-way switch in the traditional sense. However Lutron provided an interesting and workable solution with the Lutron PJ2-WALL-WH-L01 Pico remote control with wall mounting kit.The Lutron PJ2-WALL-WH-L01 Pico remote control with wall mounting kit, assembled in China, is designed to act as a secondary dimmer in a 3-way set-up. When a 3-way setup exists, the wiring for the secondary switch needs to be capped off (instructions included), then this kit is installed in place of the old secondary switch. Alternatively, this kit can be used to create a 3-way switch set-up where one doesn't exist without needing to alter wiring.Installing the Lutron PJ2-WALL-WH-L01 Pico remote control with wall mounting kit basically requires screwing the wall mount plate into place and covering with a wall-plate. Pairing the remote and customizing the preset dim level button is quick and easy too. Since I already had the main dimmer installed and the secondary dimmer wires capped off, the wall mounting kit took about 10 minutes to install and train. The Pico remote control has an on, brighten, preset, dim, and off button. The configuration works well, however the buttons are busy and can be intimidating to those who are unfamiliar with the switch. I prefer the clean look of the Maestro dimmer switches, which also has a remote dimmer, although they also tend to confuse unfamiliar users. Our secondary dimmer is located in the hallway right before entering the media room. I was concerned that the remote might have connectivity issues due to having to communicate through multiple walls even though they were only about 14 feet apart. Fortunately the secondary switch works perfectly in this location. If you purchased the Lutron P-PKG1W-WH Caseta wireless in-wall light dimmer and need or want a 3-way switch set-up, you need the Lutron PJ2-WALL-WH-L01 Pico remote control with wall mounting kit. This wall mounting kit makes an excellent secondary dimmer whether your house is wired for it or not.PROS:Works with energy efficient dimmable bulbsCan create a 3-way switch set-up without new wiringSimple to install and set up10 year battery life30 ft operation range1 year warrantyCONS:Busy and intimidating switch button configuration

Totally Wireless!
This is my 2nd pico remote and I plan to buy more. This does not require any wiring to existing wall switch. It connects the main light switch. (sold separately). A great function on this remote is the favorite button (the circle) it automatically changes your favorite light dimness with one push of a button. It can be mounted anywhere. I havent had to replace the batteries on mine because they are new but I'm sure the batteries are not too expensive and video tutorials can be found on youtube. Another thing to note, I bought a hub which communicates with my main caseta switch which in turn communicates with my pico remote. What the hub does, it allows me to control it through an app and I can turn them on or off from anywhere in the world (as long as my internet is working at home)

Easy to install, works great.
I have had remote switches before. The problem has been some difficulty in programming the connection to the hub and it occasionally losing that connection over time. I installed two of them to a single hub and have had no trouble establishing the link to the hub. I have had them for 6 months now and so far no issues. The capability of the controls is pretty cool too!

easy, looks good, works well
This kit includes a pico remote, which is easy and intuitive to use (either as a portable remote or installed on a surface using this wall-mounting kit), easy to integrate into your smart home (but you have to use a Lutron Caseta Smart Bridge), and looks nice. The wall-mounting kit is easy to install once you figure out what each piece does. The instructions are actually clear, but I could only tell that in retrospect - when I was trying to figure out what the clear piece was for, how to remove a small section of the clear piece for certain mounting needs, and how to insert and remove the pico into the mounting bracket, I found the illustrations confusing. But I didn't break anything and it all works well.

Excellent but use Lutron face plate
Excellent concept where you need additional switches without rewiring. I've used these in rooms with pocket doors where there isn't room for a regular box and installations without extensive rewiring. These remotes look like a regular switch which is a major part of their attraction. I'm remodelling another bathroom which has three way switches in the attached room exactly where the shower niche will go and was able to solve the problem by removing the old switches, boxes and wiring, patching wall and using these remotes instead.Straightforward to use and remote pairs easily from many feet away plus they can be voice or app controlled if you have the Lutron bridge and/or Alexa etc.Couple of warnings though. Firstly, the Pico remote is not very easy to remove from the adapter so don't attach it unless you are sure it is what you want to use unless you like a struggle. Secondly, if you use the Lutron faceplate the bottom part should fit flush on the wall. I mistakenly fitted an Eaton screw less plate, which does not have the split line like the Lutron, and it would not fit flush against the wall. Same with similar Leviton brand. However, using Lutron faceplates avoids this issue as the adapter fits within the part of the frame that screws to the wall so there is no gap between wall and faceplate.Recommended whether you are challenged by space or don't want cost and inconvenience of extra wiring. Price of all three components is better as this kit than separate purchases.

Kitchen remodel gone right
Our electrician suggested these for less wiring, more adaptability, ease of installation and compatibility with multiple switches. Way a great buy! We bought this along with a kit including modem. We have 4 different lighting configurations in our open concept home and these make it a snap. I saved in electrical cost 5 fold, less wiring, less time, less money. These are great
