Comfort Comes With Work
These Dickies Duck Carpenter Jeans are built like a tank. I’ve been putting them through the wringer, felling trees, clearing scrub, hauling rock and gravel, and they haven’t flinched. Tough, durable, and clearly made to handle real outdoor work. Now, fair warning: when they show up, they're about as stiff as a 2x4. But give them a few washes and actually put in some work wearing them, and they break in nicely. Once they soften up, the comfort catches up to the durability. If you’re looking for a pair of work pants that can handle abuse without falling apart, and don’t mind earning that broken-in feel, these pants are a solid investment. Still going strong and ready for whatever’s next.

Great work pants
My new go-to work pants. Lightweight and flexible, very comfortable yet also durable. And best of all, they have straight narrow legs, I don’t know when it became necessary for work pants be giant ballooning hammer pants, but it sucks, I detest “comfort fit” pants with big baggy legs. These are straight and slim, so much better than floppy, loose legs with too much material.

Not consistent
I’ve bought these from this exact link with the same size and color but my husband says they fit differently than the older ones he still has. Wish they were more consistent whenever I buy them.

Comfortable and tough!
I love these pants!!! They’re super tough and protect me from harsh environments. Comfortable with a baggy loose fit!

Well off size, otherwise look like good pants
I wear 48, have for years. I wear some 46 because I'm in between. The 48 dickies I bought are closer to 44. I can snap almost any 46 on but some are tight. I can't even get the dickies anywhere near snapping. 3 stars is for likely quality, the did arrive in good time and condition. Sad, because I needed good jeans for work. And these were 'relaxed fit.' Not even close.

a good old-school pant
what this pant has going for it:* made of 100% cotton duck* made of 0% anything else* broad color selection rather than just "brown or black"* straight stitch construction on the inside leg seam (versus a triple-stitched flat-felled inside seam. i explain my rationale below.)why each of these was an important factor to me:nylon, poly, and flex materials are more prone to unsightly pilling in high-wear areas. flex materials specifically (spandex, elastane, etc) will eventually wear out within a couple years resulting in a slouchy fit.cotton duck OTOH is widely regarded as both being more resilient, but at the same time, lighter, than denim. much like those popular duck cotton work jackets, these pants are so stiff that they can basically stand up on their own when new. but like high quality shoes, i expect them to take on a wonderful patina and softness as they get broken in.the straight stitch inside leg seam means that someone like me, who really only knows how to do straight and zig-zag machine stitches, can easily and cleanly tailor the legs into a slightly slimmer, tapered modern cut if you so desire.while not having triple-stitched seams on both the inside and outside seems like a quality downgrade, i have never owned a pair of pants that gave out on the inside seam, so this is a worthwhile compromise for me.specifics of fit and construction that may work for me but not for you:this is a fairly mid to high-rise pant. they sit at my belly button, which i find more comfortable than lower rise pants that sit more on the hips. i found they fit pretty well through the seat and thigh (stocky leg day physique), but i did slightly slim up the legs from the knee down for a more tailored, neat look.i will fess up to being a "blue collar cosplayer" who intends to wear these for general use rather than rugged jobsite work, as i can't justify spending $100 or more on a fashion offering that adds inflated cost by branding itself as a "vintage" design. thus, i cannot give any meaningful feedback on the resilience of this fabric. but it feels of equivalent quality to every major duck chore/field coat out there.anyway, if you're looking for what should be a long-lasting piece, in a synthetic-free fabric, give these a shot. especially if you have an affinity for clothes that actually get better with more wear.

These are now my favorites work pants!
I’m usually a denim jeans guy but I bought 3 of these, in different colors because they were on sale. They’re durable, fit my build, and comfortable.
