2013 Explorer Limited w/10 speaker Sony system
I knew I wanted to change out the OEM sub, I knew I wanted to keep the OEM box, and I also knew I didn't want to change out the OEM amp. I have the Ford Explorer Limited 2013 with the 10 speaker system which already sounded good. However, I knew due to age, and usage that it was time for upgrading the speakers and I decided to start with the subwoofer.I watched videos carefully on how to take apart the panel, so after watching so many videos I did it and was able to do everything in about an hour. The Ford subwoofers are dual 1.2 ohms, so the dual 2 ohms are perfect because let's face it, you'll never find 1.2ohm woofers and if you do they will not fit and on top of that they are very expensive! Now, I added poly fill inside the OEM box and it made a difference in sound completely. The bass sounded tighter and more real, it filled the cabin more compared to the OEM one.The only fear I had was that due to the difference in ohms, that there might have been some clipping. But not at all, I played hip-hop, house, jazz, alternative, rock, Spanish, Italian and it all sounded perfect. Now, I will say this, I don't know if this sub would work for the regular sound system, or even the step up from regular. I have the 10 speaker Sony system which has a higher rating of wattage compared to the others. This was an amazing upgraded to the factory system. Enjoy

Great replacement for 2005 4Runner JBL subwoofer
Perfect fit and great sound in my 2005 4Runner. It works great with the factory JBL amp. To my untrained ears, it sounds better than the JBL subwoofer ever did. My kid was laughing because the new sub made his seat "bounce".It was an easy install. I found a guide online to remove the trim panels to get to the subwoofer. Once you're there, you just unplug the factory sub, strip the wires, and plug them into the Rockford Fosgate sub. The black and red wires go into the red connections on the sub, and the green and yellow wires go into the black connections. First time I connected and tested, the sub was working but not making much juice, so I switched wires to the opposite sides (i.e. black and green wires moved to right side of sub, red and yellow wires to left side). After doing that I tested it again, and was it ever thumpin'. I had to drill six holes to mount the new sub, which wasn't a big deal. The most tedious part was screwing the sub in, because I was worried I'd slip and tear a hole in it. Finally, you have to reinstall all the trim panels. Be careful with the 12-volt outlet because it seats really close to the speaker and the connections on it could poke a hole in the face of the sub. Overall replacement time for me was just under 3 hours. I went slow and took my time to make sure I didn't break any connections on the trim panels. I'd suggest a trim kit tool set. I've had one for years and it's so much easier than working with screwdrivers.

Plug and Play for 2004 4Runner Limited
The factory sub on my 2004 4Runner Limited blew. This one works great. I ordered it from amazon and then had it installed (I have too many thumbs to do it myself...) for me. It was plug and play, outside having to drill new holes. I watched while he did it and it was pretty straight forward. Took about 35 minutes to do. No need to buy anything else. If you want a good sub to replace the factory one, this one will do you well. The sound is very good. It is better than the factory JBL sub. The bass is more pronounced and sharp. At first I kind of wondered if it was too much, but it isn't. It doesn't dominate the music. Just gives more punch to the bass. I suspect the factory equipment really isn't pushing this thing too much. It is really nice to be able to listen to music again and not all the scratching, popping, etc.. of the blown sub.One other comment. I was debating between this and the Pioneer sub. The Pioneer sub was $20 cheaper on amazon. In hind sight, I'd probably give strong consideration to buying the Pioneer instead. This isn't a reflection on the RF sub. It is mainly because I don't think the factory equipment pushes the RF sub that much. I'd probably been just as happy with the Pioneer.

Highly recommended for 98 Ford explorer!
I found the perfect replacement subwoofer for my 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition with the Mach premium stereo with the CD changer. The design guaranteed all the screw holes lined up perfectly. The old speakers had tiny little slide on clips. Had to cut those off and then the wire inserts into the push pins of the subwoofer. After a few years without a subwoofer, I forgot what I was missing. It's a perfect match for this most excellent system... Thump and bumping and back to full spectrum sound!
