Super treat to reward and reinforce behaviors

Breeder and vet-approved for rewarding behaviors. Do not overfeed! My cats run crazy for these. Store inside another plastic bag to keep fresher and so cats don’t go hunting for the bag since the smell is potent!

A bit expensive, but a very favorite treat for our kitty.

Cat attractor

I love the PureBites shrimp cat treats...because the cats love it! Especially the feral kitten I am taming. The freeze-dried shrimp are small, so I give several at a time as a treat. As a human "owner", I like that the treat is just shrimp...no filler. Cats need protein, and I prefer my cat treats to be high in protein. So the shrimp fit the bill. The fact that the kitten (and all the other cats) likes the shrimp makes it even better. There is a slight fishy odor when you open the package, but it is not at all unpleasant. The shrimp themselves have only a faint odor. It's certainly enough to get the cats' noses going when I open the pouch. The shrimp also make a nice sound when I shake the bag.I've been looking for a treat that my mostly-formerly-feral kitten really likes. She is hand-shy, and I'm using treats to teach her that hands bring good things. She liked this treat enough that I went out and bought a bunch more. The only down-side is that the package contains a fair amount of shrimp fragments as well as whole shrimp. That isn't a problem when putting a small pile of treats in front of a cat, but only the whole shrimp work when reaching out to the kitten - the fragments are too small. The other cats are happy to eat the fragments, so that isn't a problem. All in all, I am very happy with this nutritious cat treat.

I’ve never seen my cat get this excited about treats before.

My cat is not food motivated, like a lot of other cats out there, but she goes bananas for these. It’s been hard finding ones she likes and I guess she just happens to be a connoisseur. These are great, there’s nothing else in them besides the protein, and my cat loves them. The only downside is I have to break them down cos she’s a princess and have to wash my hands afterwards cos they stink. But it’s fish, so it is what it is. No complaints and a happy kitty!!

Yummy, Improve Behavior, Stimulate Appetite

My cat eats the shrimp out of my hand as a special treat. He knows what it means when I call, “Who wants a special treat?” And he comes running to the kitchen.I also use the shrimp for behavioral training. My cat gladly tolerates tooth brushing, bathing, claw clipping, eye drops, etc., in order to earn a plate of shrimp. I will keep the bag in view so he knows he’ll be earning shrimp and so that he can smell them too.My cat has become a champion, for the most part, LOL. We’re still working on how long he’ll tolerate the bath before he starts to struggle. Otherwise, he’s learned to accept everything else.My guess is that my cat enjoys the natural salty flavor and heavy odor of the shrimp. Although the bag is lightweight, there are a lot of individual pieces of shrimp, so it goes a long way. It’s a good value for the money, I think. These shrimp are also useful when my cat has a respiratory infection and loses his sense of smell making him uninterested in eating, because he’ll still be able to smell the shrimp. So I simply add shrimp as a topper to his regular food, and then he eats.

DANGER! CHOKING HAZARD FOR YOUR CAT!

The title is all you really need to know. I bought this "treat" along with treats from three other companies, all in the same order. I did not review those other treats (our cats love them BTW) but as a public service I am reviewing the PureBites Freeze Dried Salmon Treats. I have bought freeze dried minnows from this company that our cats wouldn't touch, and even the feral cat we feed wouldn't eat either. The company made me jump through hoops to finally get a refund, despite their "100% Satisfaction" guarantee. So much for Canadian friendliness. I have bought a few other varieties of treats for our cats from this company, with mixed satisfaction, at least judging from our cats' acceptance ( and they are NOT picky eaters!).Sorry for the off topic, so here's the skinny. I figured these salmon treats were probably scraps from the fish processor, and I still feel that way. OK, so who cares, right? But what I didn't figure is that the "freeze drying" would result in salmon skin on the treats that is literally AS TOUGH AS SHOE LEATHER! I discovered this by giving my 18 lb. mostly Maine Coon with canines like a saber tooth tiger one of the salmon treats it's a good thing I was watching to see if he liked it because no sooner had he picked it up with his teeth and tried to chew it then he began to choke on the treat. And I do mean choke! I had to grab him, force his mouth open, and pull the the chunk out while he gagged. Some treat, huh? When I inspected the treat is when I realized that the skin on it was LEATHER TOUGH. I couldn't tear it with my bare hands. Good thing our older, much smaller cat didn't try to eat one of these things. I was tempted to throw the whole bag out, but decided to try something. I soaked the whole bag of treats in water, which softened the meat and allowed me to tear off the dangerous skin (which only got more flexible, but no less impossible to tear). Then I let the skinned meat to dry, put the dried meat (only) in the Oster blender, and ground the stuff up into meal. I mixed this salmon meal in with their dry food, so it wasn't a complete waste of money. But don't go the route I had to go. Protect your furry friend(s), save your money, and buy your cat treats from some other company. Personally, I don't think this product should even be allowed to be sold on Amazon, unless the company skins the salmon before drying, and makes returns or refunds less like the Spanish Inquisition.

Quality of this product has gone down significantly

The quality has definitely gone way downhill, the last three bags were all the same very poor quality and basically nothing but skin and fish dust, I had to cancel my subscription. I have a very firm three strike rule policy! This is normally a great product but the last bag I opened was nearly all skin and dust. I am hoping this was a fluke and not how future purchases will be. I would have given five stars if the quality of this bag was not so bad. Hope future purchases are back up to the standard it previously was!
