Good one for learning solar powered toy
Wow this works perfectly. It was my first solar power toy. Very easy to fix

Easy mistake to think rover is broken
Overall, kids think this rover is cool and it does teach them about solar energy in a fun manner. That said, the kids (grade 5) put this together themselves and were outside on a super sunny day and the rover did NOTHING! When we came out to inspect it, it turned out that the black and red wiring was not making any contact to the electrodes underneath the solar panel itself. We popped the panel out of the housing and saw that the + and - were flipped to the top of the rover when they should have been at the bottom. We popped it back in the right way, inserted the wires so they touched the electrodes of the solar panel and the rovers motor started spinning immediately. For those of you who also have the same problem, double check that the wiring is making contact with the correct part of the solar panel. :) Enjoy!

Awesome solar kit!
The 4M Solar Rover Kit teaches children how to harness the light of the sun to power everyday objects. Transform a recycled soda can into a solar-powered rover. This kit includes all the parts necessary to build one solar-powered car.

Toddles right along
My 9yo built this gift alone and had fun watching it over up and walk (slowly). His shadow was enough to stop it immediately, which he had a lot of fun with.

Great Educational Toy. Younger children will require some help assembling.
Bought as a gift for a 7 year-old niece, who loved it ( along with her 4 year old brother ). Was skeptical that the small PV panel would actually supply enough power to drive the kart along, but it did just fine. The kids loved seeing how they could stop and start the kart by putting it sun vs. shade. Instructions are adequate but could be confusing if one is not technically inclined. I would imagine that most kids would need some help assembling the components correctly but they can definitely still follow along and benefit from learning how gears, motors, electricity, and solar energy work.
