Great device. Caused a bad smell at first but if you open a door or window, after a few days it goes away. If it starts hissing, you just clean the needle points with moist toilet paper but be careful, the needles are quite sharp.Wash the filter every month for long term effectiveness. The air in my lounge feels fresh and clean, like after a thunder storm. It removes smoke well and no need to open a window anymore. Its great. I have it in low setting at night and a high setting during the day, as I live in a studio flat. Worth the money!!!! The device is not just a ioniser...its also a air cleaner just like the ones with fans. It has a filter just like the ones with fans. Read the instructions and you will not be disappointed and look after it. One other thing, dont use rubbing alchohol, moist toilet paper is best. The hissing goes away sooner and stays away longer.

I purchased this in May, '15. I'm quite critical with regard to electrical and technological purchases - they can cost a pretty penny if you buy a decent unit and they should do their bloody job that you paid for them to do. This absolutely does.Admittedly, for the first couple of months, it did smell rather chlorine/plastic/peculiar.However, this DOES wear off and thereafter DOES smell of Sea Breeze - an absolute marvel, I have to hasten to add, so much so that now I'm ordering a second so I don't have to keep carting it back and forth.Brilliant for any room refreshment- and it DOES 'Clear' the air.Leave on for 3 hrs whilst you go shopping, with a window open slightly to start until unit has 'settled in' and initial 'new' smell has subsided, and .......... your room/s shall be refreshed.Pongs Be Gone !!I really, really recommend this unit.(Be patient 'til the new smell wears off - you'll be glad you did).

Works well against local chimney smoke which seeps in during Winter. Beneficial all year round. My unit has developed deposits on the outside of the 12V power plug. I did not notice this until operation became intermittent. It's best to check the power plug when doing the regular monthly cleaning of the ioniser. Be careful with the power plug, as the socket is not very robust.

Very disappointed with this unit, as it is functionally very good, but because of some noxious coating they've applied to the case, I can't tolerate it in the room. I must emphasise, it's not the smell of ozone (which is mild in use) it's a chemical emission from the outer finish, coating on the device. I was knocked back by it when I opened the box and when left in a closed room, switched off, it soon filled the space with it's noxious odour. People buy these units to detox and clear the air, but this device defeats it's intended purpose. Very annoying as otherwise it would be an asset.

As the others before me stated, the machine omits some awful plastic like smell for about 10 days, then its gradually goes away. The filter needs regular cleaning otherwise no 'mountain air'. Other than that, its ok I suppose.

A bit bulky and too short a cable.Otherwise it is amazing. I have pets. Dogs, cats, and such like. There is a distinct odour of them as you enter my home. NoticeableI bought this after trialling the smaller version of this item.It is currently on a shelf in the hallway at head height. I have had to extend the power cable as the nearest outlet is about 14 feet away.Since installing this device, that strong odour of "pets" is noticeably less.Power consumption is negligible. I am on a smart meter and it barely registers on the meter. So win win.

Fast delivery and fantastic product for the money. This unit is enough for one big room and it works from the moment you turn it on.The people reviewing and claiming there is a funny smell from it have clearly never experienced 'fresh air' before!The reviewers that have likened it to the smell of a swimming pool... Unless they have been swimming in a cloud, it's nothing like the smell of chlorine!Our bedroom smells so fresh now and it's really helped me not only sleep better but stopped my snoring. I can't claim that will be the same for everyone though!Really pleased with this unit, a second one will be purchased for another room.I would say keep it high up (comes with wall mount screws) as it has a faint 'crackle' while it's working.Good investment for sure.

I've only had it for a day and it's already made a difference. I smoke in my living room and this morning I couldn't smell any smoke from last night. There is a slight smell from the unit itself but my dad has the same unit and says it goes away after a few days. The smell isn't offensive anyway, just smells like a new electrical appliance.
