Best iteration of a beloved character

Ryu never looked better on the shelf. This guy pops. He's well made and he's very well articulated for all the fighting poses you need him in. He comes with a cool hadouken accessory that does not lack in quality, and all this packed in for low retail cost blows my mind. Love love love jada toys.

Excelente calidad

La verdad solo compre está figura para cambiar el cuerpo por la versión regular pero debo decir que está increíble, la calidad de la pintura, la durabilidad de las articulaciones es excelente

Ready player two

Aside from ryu original karate gi. I always prefer this color as my own preference. At first I was a bit hesitant to buy this figure from this company. But they are legit and now I have both in my collection.

Legit and very happy!

Happy to say that this figure got shipped very quickly. I wasn’t expecting to arrive at my doorstep within a week of ordering it, but it did and it’s legit the exclusive P2 variant from Paulmart. Thank you Paulmart!

Great figure

Even though some people complained about the skin tone this figure is all kinds of awesomeness I really don’t mind the skin tone I think it looks great

Boil to pose

When I was a kid, the first game my older brother got for his Sega Genesis was Street Fighter II Champion Edition. I remember that whenever we'd play, we'd race to see who got to use Ryu's "player 2" colorway. Both of our favorite color was blue, and Ryu was our favorite fighter, so we liked him in a blue headband better than red. A lot of toy companies have made Street Fighter figures over the decades, but not too many have ever done his old school player 2 palette. If they do other colors, they usually pick from the later games, where the alternate costumes are more eye-catching. So, I was pleased to see Jada Toys make a recolor of their Ryu figure in the SF2 player 2 colors.Jada doesn't have the best reputation in the action figure world, but I love Street Fighter and would love to have some good 6" figures to face off against my Marvel Legends for some Marvel vs. Capcom displays. The reviews I'd seen for this figure made it sound like the best figure Jada's done for their SF line, so I was cautiously optimistic. I figured I'd dip my toe into their Street Fighter line via this repaint of my favorite character in my favorite colorway to gauge the quality of the line. It cost about $5 more than a standard release, but it's a retailer exclusive, so, what are you gonna do?The box looks neat, shaped/decorated like an arcade cabinet, but opening it is annoying. Because the bottom of the box is larger than the top (again, like an arcade cabinet), and the plastic tray the figure sits in is molded to fit that shape, you can't slide the tray out without cutting all the tape and completely unfolding the front and top of the box. That's just a weird idea. The tray didn't need to be shaped that way. It could have been the same dimensions straight up and down and still been fine inside the wider bottom of the box (or the box could've just been printed to look like an arcade cabinet without being shaped like one). The sculpt and paint are decent. Not extraordinary, but for the most part, the colors are all there and not too sloppy. The gloves could use maybe a little more coverage. They seem to have attempted to dirty up the outfit, but the application of the darker paint looks really haphazard, so I can't tell if it's supposed to look like shading or just dirt splotches. It doesn't look great, but it's applied fairly lightly, so you might not even notice it, depending on the lighting where you display your figures. The plastic is kind of gummy in places, so I worried about damaging the figure while trying to free up the articulation. The articulation is where I'm having an issue. Most of the joints moved fairly freely out of box. The various joints in the arms took a little effort to get going. For the most part, it's fairly comparable to what you'd get from a similarly priced Hasbro or Mattel figure. The arms look a little funky. They made the elbow piece pretty thin, seemingly to improve the range of motion at the elbow (it can bend well past 90 degrees, almost 180), but the arm then looks weird when it's straightened, like it's just a bicep and a forearm with a thin connecting piece, rather than a whole arm.The biggest problem came with the ankles. They move forward and back easy enough, but on the figure I got, the tilt is pretty much frozen. It's so bad that at first I wasn't even sure it had ankle tilt, and I didn't want to force it too hard for fear of sheering off the joint (again: gummy plastic), but on closer examination, the pieces are all there. I tried the hot water trick and, after soaking the lower legs for a bit, was able to move them fairly easily. I figured that would be that, the joint was freed up, but after I let the figure dry/cool off and tried moving the ankles again, I again found them immobile. I heated them again, got them into a position I wanted, and let them cool/dry. Same thing.I shouldn't have to boil my figure every time I want to pose it. That's ridiculous. Now that I've had this one in hand, I'm not sure I'll be buying any of the others. In terms of quality, this one at least isn't quite up to the standards of a Marvel Legend or Star Wars Black Series, but it's close enough that, if not for the problems with the articulation, I'd probably begrudgingly pay the same price as those. And according to reviews I've seen, this is the best the line has to offer. Maybe the problem is unique to this character, or even just the individual figure I got (though since both ankles have the same weird problem, that seems unlikely). But for $25 a pop or more, I don't know if I want to roll the dice that the other figures are better than this one.
