Please... please... do a second book like this... 1978-1981 perhaps... with more rare behind the scenes letters and documents.

If you’re a true fan of D&D then this historical tome is the best thing you can buy. It’s really really well done. The quality and attention to detail is bonkers. It is comprehensive and well referenced with endless artefacts from the 1970’s. Whether you’re an old player or DM you’ll be transformed back to the days of ole. If a new comer then you understand where D&D has come from, which should help you get to the core of how the game was meant to be played and adapted. Highly recommend, yes it’s expensive but it is worth its weight, just don’t expect to carry it about. Kindle version pls (for on the go)

I really wanted to like this - okay so I'm old school 80's D&D 1st Edition but love the way the game has developed into 5E - but as soon I read the apologist virtue signalling into I started to worry."Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudices that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed. Dungeons & Dragons teaches that diversity is a strength, and we strive to make our D&D products as welcoming and inclusive as possible. This part of our work will never end."Actually it really annoyed me. Yay diversity, but it's still okay to kill and maim "monsters" (don't monsters have feelings too?) loot, pillage and reign wanton destruction on unsuspecting gazebo's (thankyou KODT heh). It's a fantasy game in a fantasy world. Just let your imagination run riot. And fireball kobolds. And Ewoks if they are in your fantasy universe. This hearkens back to the bad old days when D&D was seen as "evil" by a bunch of idiots. These days the idiots seem to work for WoTC.Yeah, so I skimmed through it - it's ok....a few facts and bucket loads of old rules reproduced to bulk it out. Not essential in my collection so I sold it and actuall made a profit of about 10gp's. So not a bad day's work.
